Happy New Year, Eagle Point Families! I hope that everyone had a wonderful Winter Break and that you were able to spend some quality time with your children! Our teachers are staff are rested, recharged and looking forward to the second half of the school year. We just started the 3rd quarter on Tuesday, January 8th. This is an opportune time to sit down with your child and talk about the personal and academic goals they are setting in class with regards to their BAS levels (K-3rd grade), AR goals & i-Ready target goals. As we all know, goal setting is an essential component to leadership; conversing and helping students formulate their goals is critical in their development as student leaders. During the third quarter, we will highlight Habit #4 - Think Win Win, Habit #5 - Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood, and Habit #6 - Synergize. Hopefully you are all receiving my weekly messages via telephone and email. If you are not, please call Maria Alvarez to update your phone and email address. Sincerely, Christy de Zayas Principal _________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________

CLASSROOM HAPPENINGS
Second Grade Happy New Year!!! Our Super Second Graders are excited to start 2019! We are continually working on reading comprehension and writing. We are thrilled to start our new Science unit on the life cycle of plants and animals. In math, we are working on addition and subtraction with regrouping. Please continue to encourage your child to read nightly and utilize i - Ready. We are looking forward to a successful 2019!
Third Grade Third Grade has been busy reading many
literary and informational genres. Our
reading activities engage students through
hands-on centers, digital lessons and
collaborative discussions. Parents can
assist their child by encouraging them to
participate daily in our Accelerated Reading program, online
i - Ready eading and math activities, and to complete their
weekly Think Central lessons. We are looking forward to
mastering our third grade standards through an exciting and fun-
filled integrated curriculum.
