This performance takes place in the 1920’s Prohibition Era.

Prohibition was a time when alcohol was not allowed in the United States.

The story has many serious and adult themes such as divorce, drugs, and alcoholism.

Costumes are clothing, shoes, or hats the characters wear.

The costumes can be colorful.

In this show, some of the characters wear tap shoes.

Tap shoes have metal on the bottom.

The metal makes clicking sounds when the person taps their foot and shoe on the ground.

It is okay to cover your ears or put on headphones if the tapping shoes are too loud.

The first character on the stage is the narrator.

The narrator introduces the characters and tells the story of the show.

A conflict is when people do not agree with each other.

In the show, there is a conflict about Janet and Robert getting married.

The characters in the show play tricks on one another.

The gangsters trick others into thinking they are pastry chefs.

Janet tricks Robert into thinking she is a French girl.
