Functions
The Digestive System has 4 steps; Ingestion-The act of eating. Digestion-The mechanical and chemical
breakdown of food into small particles and molecules that your body can absorb.
Absorption-Nutrients and water are taken in by cells.
Elimination-The removal of undigested food and other wastes.

Interactions With 2 Other Systems
IMMUNE SYSTEM CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
The Digestive System works with the Immune System by digesting medicinal foods and drinks to aid the Immune System in fighting off diseases and infections.
The Digestive System works with the Circulatory System by absorbing the nutrients from food and delivers it throughout the body in blood cells.
Role in Maintaining Homeostasis
The nutrients that the Digestive System makes is necessary for other body systems to maintain homeostasis. The blood in the Circulatory System absorbs the products of digestion. The blood carries the nutrients to all the other systems providing them with materials that contain energy.
Health/Diseases
To maintain a healthy body you have to eat all six nutrients which include proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water. Another way to stay healthy is to eat a balanced diet.
