Osborne House

The summer retreat of Victoria and Albert built by Thomas Cubitt between 1845 – 1848, this spectacular former royal residence is now looked after by English Heritage. Set in a beautiful location with views over the Solent, it has stunning interiors and vast gardens.

Walking

There are hundreds of miles of interesting walking routes across the Isle of Wight, which immerse you in some of the most beautiful landscapes the Island has to offer. So whether it’s a short stroll to watch the sun setting along East Cowes Esplanade, or more serious exploring on some of the Island’s 67 miles of coastal paths, there is sure to be a walk to suit all tastes.

Cycling Quiet country lanes and scenic off - road cycling routes make the Isle of Wight an ideal destination for cycling. There are cycling routes to suit everyone, with a choice of challenging off-road bridleways, peaceful byways and level purpose-made tracks on former railway lines.

Sailing

Possibly the most famous nautical town in the UK and widely considered the home of sailing, Cowes is located just over the River Medina and is easily accessible via the Chain Ferry (400m from Princess Court). Princess Court offers the perfect location for boating, and is a short walk to East Cowes Marina where you can cross tracks with the racers or relax in the sun. It is also just a stone’s throw from the planned Victoria Quay Marina on the Esplanade.

St Mildred’s Church

St Mildred’s Church in Whippingham is best known for its connections with Queen Victoria. Whippingham was the centre of a royal estate supporting Osborne House and Barton Manor. Queen Victoria took a close interest in ‘her people’ in Whippingham. This is reflected in the many memorials in St Mildred’s.
