The Desert Hotel

There once was a cactus in the middle of the desert. A lonely King Cobra slithered by the cactus and said to himself, “Oh, this could become my house or even a hotel. I must get the word out. How about this? I will send out 2,000 fliers around the world! Wow, look at this. Right after it rains, the rooms will expand because the cactus is made of an elastic material which can expand.”

Hawk flew by and said, “This must be the place!” He asked King Cobra if this was the place. King Cobra said, “Sure is!” (Three days later…) Hawk told King Cobra that there was no doubt that this was the best hotel in the world because it was always sunny and there was plenty of food nearby.

“I have friends from all over the world.” Hawk continued, “I have to tell them about your hotel. I know a slow worm from London and a bat from Mexico. I shall tell them first. Bat will make it here easily because he is the only mammal with wings. But for Slow Worm we will find a way. Off I go…” Hawk flew to London, “Hi Slow Worm. I went to this amazing hotel in the desert. You must go at once.” Slow Worm asked, “But how? I cannot fly and if I slither; I’ll take too long.” “Wait,” said Hawk. “I have a way to get you there, find me an elastic band and I will show you how.” Worm said, “Here I found one.” “Thank you,” replied Hawk. “Now strap this around me and strap it to yourself. I’ll take you there.”

“Hi King Cobra, its me again. Now I have to get Bat. see you guys in a few days!”

In Mexico, Hawk said, “Bat, I went to the most spectacular hotel in the world. It is in the desert; there is so

much water and food near by. The hotel is inside a cactus so it is nice and cool, that is why some animals live in it.” “Let’s go, so I can show you it. It is only 18 hours from here. I already brought Slow Worm.” “Great,” said bat. “But how did he get there because he was in London?

“Uhmmmm…long story I will tell you on the, way so let’s get going.”

“We are finally here.” Said Hawk. “Enjoy your stay,” said King Cobra. “From what Hawk told me I think I will,” said Bat.

(10 weeks later) “I’m sorry sir but we are full for the next 20 weeks. You are the fifth caller today, but on December 18th, you could have room # 36. Excuse me, Hawk,” said King Cobra… “I feel we need more hotels, because the hotel is booked and we get calls 24/7. It would be great if we could have an entire line of these hotels, but places like this are extremely hard to find. So I thought with your view from the sky you would have a better chance in finding those few places.” “Okay, I will try,” said Hawk. Two hours passed, there was no sign of Hawk. King Cobra slithered by the money room and saw that a lot of the money was missing and then remembered that Hawk had some criminal records in the past and that he was sly and sneaky. He started to think that Hawk betrayed him. King Cobra told people they had to leave the hotel so police could investigate the crime. But nobody wanted to leave the hotel so they offered to help catch Hawk. They asked the bank if there was recently a large deposit in Hawk’s

account, and sure enough there was! So King Cobra got his money back and they had to find Hawk.

They split up in to three search parties to look for Hawk. On Tuesday group two spotted Hawk, but by the time the groups arrived at the scene Hawk was gone. Six hours later, the bank teller told them that Hawk had told him that he would hurt him if he didn’t give some money. So the bank teller had given him the money, but for some reason he also wanted the address and name of the hotel.

Then King Cobra slithered away from his group and went back to the hotel and hid behind a bush. He saw Hawk leading a bunch of tourists into the hotel and acting like he owned the hotel as he collected the money. That’s when King Cobra started to think that Hawk was trying to take over the hotel; he probably only robbed the hotel to get everyone to leave. Then King Cobra had an idea; he asked a family of mice to act like they couldn’t find a good place to stay while they were on vacation. He knew Hawk couldn’t resist such an opportunity. The mice said, “Sure!” King Cobra was delighted that they would help so he slithered into the bush and waited.

After about 30 minutes, he saw Hawk trying to lure the mice into the hotel. As Hawk stepped close enough, King Cobra tackled Hawk and pinned him to the ground until the police could take him away and to jail. Hawk struggled to get away but it was no use. There was no way Hawk could escape.

Two weeks later, King Cobra decided to visit Hawk in jail but when he got to his cell Hawk was gone!
