Page 2: The Descent Editing

PacingThis is the start of the film at it shows the car moving away from the earlier scene. This is fairly quick but it is not to slow or to quick. This last about 3 to 4 seconds.

Page 3: The Descent Editing

Pacing This shows the mother (Sarah) and her Daughter (Jess) from this we see their strong relationship. This shot lasts 1 second and this was used to show the conversation.

Paul is looking to the side of him this makes us think of what happened to him earlier with Juno so this is kind of looking into the future. This cut lasts about 6 seconds.

This cut is when Sarah touches Paul and Paul moves away from Sarah as to say ‘Don’t touch me’. This cut last about 7 seconds.

Pacing

The shot quickly jumps to this shot and in my opinion I feel this is the main part of the car crash where the pace starts to quicken up.

Pacing

This is the second half of the scene this is wear there this is fast cut editing. As soon as Sarah and her husband Paul crashes the all the shots which are shown above, jump really quickly. Each shot jumps for half a second.

Comparing First and Second Half• The first half of the scene is really slow as this is just a general conversation and

not as action packed in the second part, but however in the second half as soon as Sarah’s husband Paul crashes this makes the scene really quick and action packed and really quick jump shots. Makes it feel sudden as well.

Transition This is an example of a fade to black transition. It should move slowly and also fade slowly black until you cannot see the subject no more.

This is a great example of a jump transition this is when one of the subject is somewhere else and the camera jumps from one place to another place.

CGIThis is a part of The Descent where they use CGI (Computer Generated Images) you can tell they have used this technique as the pole is blurry.
