Dear all, Welcome to members old and new. The summer is now over and winter fun begins! What a lot there is to look forward to. Cheshire Hunt North is back at the Horse of the Year Show! What a fantastic achievement it is for the team, their trainer and all the parents, Pennie, our Mounted Games Co-ordinator, in addition to the branch. Their epic quest for the Prince Philip Cup at HOYS begins. I hope many of you will be able to get to see them all ride at HOYS and an added bonus is that the colour the team have been allocated is RED. Definitely a good luck omen! An enormous thank you goes to everybody in the branch for getting on board the fundraising trail to help the games team. It was a great branch effort. The successes over the summer were fantastic! We have a National Intermediate show jumping champion in the branch. In a most wonderful display of horsemanship, Emmelia Davidson Slack completed 3 clear rounds, (the only one to do so out of 57), to take the national title. What a proud moment for us all. In addition the Junior Games team came 3rd at the Pony Club Championships, the senior games team came 1st and qualified for HOYS and our junior Horse and Pony Care team came 11th. At our own Novice Championships Annabel Carthy came 7th individually in the Showjumping and was awarded the Psyche Kennerley Memorial Trophy. Milly Darlington and Maia Hodgson also represented the branch and are to be commended on their performance. However, success is not only measured through competitions. The display the branch did at The Ashbrook Open Day in July with The Mobberley Riding Club Centre was a fantastic celebration of all things Pony Club. Also, our annual camp was once again fantastic and is still being talked about! So many wonderful things going on in the branch and a credit to you all. In the forthcoming programme, we have worked hard to ensure that all our members are catered for. Don’t forget to keep informed with branch news by logging onto our website. Moreover, it is evident that the regular training is having a positive effect on our members with so many successes along the way. Finally, good luck to all the members representing the branch at the various competitions over the winter, as individuals or on a team. Take care and we hope to see you all at the presentation dance in November, (info will be in this newsletter and on the website soon). Remember that now the nights are drawing in and the weather is getting colder, your ponies will need additional feed and forage. See you all out and about in the branch and good luck in all you do. Autumn/Winter programme. The autumn/winter programme is now under way. Please do get your entries in early to avoid disappointment. Enter on an official entry form, (enclosed, but also can be downloaded from the branch website) and please note that all entries close one week before the rally/training event, (unless specified). As ever, we have tried to cater for all ages and abilities and also chosen many different venues for variety and also accessibility to all. We have responded to requests from members and have put on additional events. We are fortunate to be able to still subsidise training events including the working rallies. At other events, we do not make a profit but have to try and break even. Therefore if you have entered a rally and have to withdraw, unless we have a waiting list and can fill your place, then unfortunately your entry fee cannot be refunded. Please check for clashes! Instructors and venues still have to be paid! Rally/training times will be displayed on the website. When entering rallies and training, please would all members complete a branch entry form and send to the rally organiser with the appropriate fee. If you have to cancel any rallies you have entered, please inform THE PERSON WHO YOU SENT THE ENTRIES TO, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. If there is a waiting list you may be entitled to a refund. Just a few reminders – please enter well in advance, include payment with entry, check the website for rally times, venue and updates, do not phone committee members after 9pm at night and enjoy all you do!
NEW MEMBERS.
Welcome to all our new members – it will be great to meet you at our various
events.
Unsure about what to wear at the rallies, or what happens at a One Day
Event, etc? Fancy going hunting and want to know more?
Contact Sally Hayward, 01606 851928, from our
committee and she will gladly assist in any enquiries.
Do come and launch yourselves into pony club life – it certainly is great fun
and you will soon meet other members of your own age.

Parents – your branch needs you!...... so come and join in the fun! Throughout the year, our branch runs many different types of competitions and events, at branch level, area level and national level. We are a highly successful branch and, as a result, all of our rallies and training sessions are subsidised by the branch. However, in order to continue to be successful we need more help! From putting up marquees, buttering bread in earnest, to fence judging and the clearing up at the end, it’s a great way to meet all the committee and getting to know all the other parents. Remember, a lot of organising goes on behind the scenes - have you access to printing facilities/photocopying, catering supplies, to name just a couple? Are you handy with a hammer, (you too can join our Dynamo Dads, last year on display in Horse and Hound!), or maybe you make a mean cup of tea?
Whatever skill you have got – we can make use of it! This year we have introduced a help rota in the branch and we are asking ALL
parents to commit their time and to come and help at our events. Please complete the enclosed form and send in A.S.A.P to pledge your help. We really do appreciate the help and the surplus raised directly benefits the members through subsidising rallies etc. A huge thank you in advance!
Working rallies Working rallies are deemed to be the “backbone” of the pony club. They are a mix of flatwork and jumping, with a fun element included and each lesson is for 1 hour in groups of no more than 6. Groups are selected by age and ability, and when working towards Proficiency Tests, by tests already taken and passed. Stable management will also be included in the Saturday rallies – timings will be displayed on the branch website, including details of items to bring along. The dress code for working rallies is: For the rider - Pony Club approved standard hat, (black or blue) shirt and tie or red branch polo shirt, branch sweatshirt, cream or white jodphurs, jodphur boots, black or brown chaps if required, hairnet for long hair. No coats but branch red fleeces may be worn when cold. Pony – Well groomed, clean tack with a plain browband, brown, white or black numnah. At all our venues, please help us by taking your turn to “poo pick” the arena and keep the car park clear of horse muck and rubbish. That way we will always be welcome! Also please note at Huntersgate, will ALL cars park on the left as you enter the gate.
