The database in Fudan: An overview

How many database do we have access to

• Our source of data has covered a wide range of research fields (empirical industrial organization, International trade, regional economics, monetary policy and banking, etc.)

• So far, we have gained access to more than 50 funded database and all sorts of statistics

Micro-based: household survey

• Name: China agricultural household socio-econ survey data

• The sample:20 provinces, 350 countries and towns, 4000 suburban households

• Basics:– The household level: income, consumption, credit,

social network, family members, etc

– The country level: geographical info, population, land area, infrastructure, etc

• Name: township residents survey data (Shanghai, Sichuan, Guangdong and Liaoning, 2005,2010-2012)

• The sample: agricultural and non-agricultural permanent residents, with hukou in town, etc

• Monetary and nonmonetary income; consumption expenditure; social security; etc.

• The sample: government expenditure of both central and local government from 1986-2004

• Sample: mark-to-market data over 9000 observation spots of over 2000 commodities and services, which covers 31 provinces and 32 provincial capital cities, etc.

• Name: BvD (Bureau van Dijk) database Bankscope & Oriana

• Bankscope

– Sample: over 3000 main banks and important financial institutes

– Basics: raw financial data, ratios, credit ranking, comparison within industries, etc.
