Oracle Critical Patch Updates – October 2010
An Oracle Critical Patch Update and an Oracle Java SE and Java for Business Critical Patch Update were released on October 12, 2010. Oracle strongly recommends applying the patches for these as soon as possible. Please note that Sun products are included to this Critical Patch Update.
The Critical Patch Update Advisories are the starting point for relevant information. They include the list of products affected, pointers to obtain the patches, summaries of the security vulnerabilities for each product suite, and links to other important documents. Supported products that are not listed in the “Supported Products and Components Affected” sections of the advisories do not require new patches to be applied.
Also, it is essential to review the Critical Patch Update supporting documentation referenced in the Advisories before applying patches, as this is where you can find important pertinent information.
The Critical Patch Update Advisories are available at the following location:
Oracle Technology Network
Release dates for 2011 include the following:
Critical Patch Updates: • January 18, 2011 • April 19, 2011 • July 19, 2011 • October 18, 2011
Oracle Java SE and Java for Business Critical Patch Updates: • February 15, 2011 • June 7, 2011 • October 18, 2011

IFRS for SMEs: Ready for Prime Time?
Are International Financial Reporting Standards ready for the prime time of the U.S. capital markets? Will the standard-setters be independent and free of undue regulatory influence? More importantly, for many private companies, how will they be impacted by IFRS?

Upgrade Methodology Choices and New Functionality
At some point in time, JD Edwards users will consider upgrading their software. There are various reasons for upgrading, such as expiring support, the desire to use different hardware, or the desire to use new functionality that is available in later versions of the software. At some point, the JD Edwards user will need to decide between three basic methodology choices when upgrading, with possible variations of each choice:
Upgrade using the existing footprint first, then implement new functionality later
Upgrade and implement new functionality as a single project. Upgrade using the existing footprint, while implementing some new
functionality, and adding other new functionality later.
Read more of this blog post from Kevin Beck, Senior Application Consultant and Project Manager with brij Image & Information, as he provides an overview of what each method entails and how your objective for upgrading can influence the method you choose.

Similar to how a gardener nurtures flowers in a traditional greenhouse, we plant seeds of hope, cultivate opportunity, and invest in the long-term growth of North Carolina
students. Travel, technology, and academic programs have become our focus; they are the tools we use to help under-served students realize their educational and professional potential.
We believe every child deserves broader horizons and brighter tomorrows. Through the GREENHOUSE GLOBETROTTER PROGRAM we expose high school students to the life-changing influences of philanthropic service and International travel. The outcomes are once-in-a-lifetime opportunities that cultivate new perspectives and encourage the pursuit of dreams. This Program began in 2003 and has led student-teams around the world to places like Guatemala, Ecuador, Uganda and Peru.
