This was supposed to be just a Beetle drive but because the evening fell on the anniversary of The Battle of Trafalgar, Admiral Horatio Nelson's great victory, it turned into a Naval/ Nautical themed Beetle drive, which was a hilarious combination. We had some great fancy dress costumes. Top prize (if there had been one!) would have gone to the extended Lewis family. Derek, Mary, Sam and Katie as the cast of "The Pirates of the Caribbean". We had pirates and parrots, eye patches and lots of calls of arrrrrrrrrgh! Admiral Lord Nelson of course wasn't a pirate but a Royal Naval officer and representing the Royal Navy was our own Brother, Tim Haley in immaculate mess uniform, who, after dinner, gave a very interesting talk about Nelson and the Battle of Trafalgar. He then proposed the toast to Nelson's immortal memory, which we celebrated with "Nelson's blood " rum punch. Dinner was good old-fashioned Soup, then Pie, mash, peas and lots of gravy followed by cheesecake and trifle. Thank you to the people who brought the puddings. Overall winner of the Beetle drive was Ken Jordan, guest of Tom Heathfield. Thank you to everyone for coming along and making the evening such a success. A special thank you to Steve Towl for running the bar, making the soup and helping in the kitchen. We couldn't have done without you. 23 persons attended. We had a really great evening and we also raised £190 to go to South Brent and District Caring. Best wishes to you all, Matthew

Dear Brethren All,

We had a great evening on Saturday, 21st October at The Lodge.
