The Cymru Football app

The Cymru Football app takes the match data entered into the mComet app by clubs, referees and competition managers and makes it available to members of the public, giving them the opportunity to follow all levels of Welsh football live.

The app is free to download from the Apple and Google Play stores and can be used on a smartphone or tablet

It includes live match details, including goal scorers, yellow and red cards and substitutions for every match recorded on COMET, as well as player and team statistics and league tables.

It will also allow you to select your favourite player, team, match or competition and receive a notification whenever a goal, substitution or card is recorded on COMET.

Getting the app

You can find the Cymru Football app in the App store and Google Play store, by searching Cymru Football.

The app is free of charge to download.

What matches are on the app ? • National leagues and cups since 2019/20

season;

• All senior and junior (under 12+) leagues and cups from the 2021/22 season.

Domestic football:

• Every Men’s and Women’s International match (senior and intermediate age categories) since 1876.

International football

The information shown on the app is the same for any match or player

Whether it is an international, domestic, or grassroots match, the match information shown on the app is the same. You can see fixtures and results, and from there the team line-up and match events for each game.

For each player, you can access their match history, and their appearance, goal and discipline record for each competition they have played in. This applies whether the player is Gareth Bale, Sophie Ingle or a junior player.

Viewing Fixtures

The home screen on the app shows the matches taking place that day.

From here, you can also view matches from the previous and next 7 days by scrolling along the day bar at the top of the screen and selecting the day you want to look at.

You can also view fixtures for a particular competition by searching for that competition in the favouritessection.

Map feature

• By tapping the location icon on the Matchespage, you can see where matches are being played on a particular date.

• You can also zoom into the map to find a match location.

Viewing Results

To view results for matches that have been played in the past 7 days, scroll to the left on the day bar in the Matches section of the app, and select the day you want to view.

You can also view results for a particular competition by searching for that competition in the favouritessection.

Following Live Matches

On a match day, you can see all matches that are taking place by looking at the Live section of the app.

To reach this section, tap the Live icon, second from the left at the bottom of the screen.

Here you will see all matches that are in progress, where the match timer is running, the minute of the match, and the live score.

Match Timeline

In either the Matches or Live section of the app, you can tap a match to get more information on that match.

When you tap the match you reach the Timeline page.

This shows all goals, substitutions and cards that take place during the match.

If the match events are entered by the club live, they will show live on the app.

Goals

When a goal is scored, you can tap on the picture of the goal scorer in the Timeline.

You then reach the goal celebration screen.

This screen can be shared on social media by tapping the share icon at the top right of the screen.

To return to the Timeline tap the left pointing arrow at the top left of the screen.

Team line-ups

When you have tapped a match in the Matches or Live sections, you can also view the Team Line-up by tapping Lineup near the top of the screen.

The team line-ups will be available from the time that both teams have confirmed their line-ups on the mComet app or from no later than 15 minutes before kick off.

Players and Coaches selected on the team sheet will be listed.

The team line-up can also be shared easily on social media by tapping the share icon.

Match Information

You can view the following further information about a match by tapping Info:

• Competition

• Round

• Stadium

• Stadium address

• Attendance (if added)

• Match kits

• Match Officials

Favourites

• For the 2021/22 season, there will be over 600 competitions on COMET. The easiest way to quickly find and follow your favourite players, teams, matches and competitions is to select them as favourites.

• To select favourites, tap the star at the bottom of the screen.

• You can then choose from Teams, Competitions and Players at the top of the screen.

• Start to type in the name of the team, competition or player you want to follow, and select the one you want from the dropdown list by tapping the star. The star will turn yellow.

• You will then be able to see your favourites when you tap the star icon at the bottom of the screen.

Adding a Favourite Match

To select a favourite match that you want to follow tap the star icon next to the match in the Matches section of the app.

The star icon will turn yellow to show you have added the match as a favorite.

Getting notifications about your favourites

To receive notifications about the favorites you have selected, tap the settings icon at the bottom right of the screen.

Move the sliders to the right against the items you wish to receive notifications about.

When the slider is moved to the right and you have selected favorites in that category, you will receive notifications on your device when there are events involving your favorite.

You receive the notifications as soon as they are recorded on COMET so if they are recorded live during the game you will receive them in real time.

Competition Information

To see details of a competition, tap the competition name in the Matches section or search for the competition in the favourites section.

Here you can view:

1. Results;

2. The competition Schedule;

3. The League Table;

4. Competition statistics, including goals, own goals, assists and cards in the Statssection.

Team Information

You can also view more information about a particular team.

From a match screen tap the club logo, or search for the team in the favouritessection.

You are then able to view the teams Results for matches that have been recorded on COMET, match Scheduleand the club Contacts by tapping the relevant section near the top of the screen.

You can also see info for other teams within the club by tapping the Teams tab at the top of the screen.

Finding a Player

You can also view Player information on the app.

There are two ways to access a player profile.

1. By tapping the player’s name in the Lineup section of a match;

2. By searching for a player in the Favorites section.

To do this, tap the star icon at the bottom of the screen, and at the top of the screen scroll right to Players. Start to type the players name in the Search bar at the top of the screen and you will be given a list of players with a name match. Tap the name of the player you wish to see.

Player Information

The players profile includes their photo (this will be hidden for junior players), name, age, club, gender and nationality.

Tap Matches to view the matches they have played in that have been recorded on COMET.

Tap Stats to see the records of the players appearances, minutes played, goals, and cards by competition.

Contacts

• Clubs can enter their contact details on the COMET system to be shown on the Cymru Football app.

• These show on the Contacts tab of the club profile.

• If a club needs to record a telephone number or email address on COMET but does not want this to be shown to the public on the app they can record them under correspondence email/telephone.

Wales National Teams

As well as domestic football, the Cymru Football app includes international match and player data.

On the app, you can find fixtures, results, line-ups and statistics for current and historic Wales matches, for the senior and

intermediate teams.

You can also find national team players and stats on their match appearances, minutes played and goals.

Wales MatchesThe app allows you to search for national team campaigns and matches. Within each match you can view team line-ups and the match timeline.

Wales PlayersYou can also find current and former Wales players through searching in the favourites tab, and see their match history and statistics.

News section

The News section of the app broadcasts FAW latest news to app users via the FAW Twitter feed.
