Culture Night is a city festival and a celebration of culture, manifested by local cultural workers, institutions, amateurs and their organisations. Uppsala municipality coordinates the entire festival and the participants are responsible for funding and creating their own programmes – most of them free of charge for the public.

Enjoy traditional and untraditional expressions of culture during this cross-border, dynamic and magical night!

Exciting programmes for adults and children take place indoors and on the street throughout Uppsala.

The whole family can listen – and dance – to all kinds of music from local bands, or watch fire tournaments, acrobatic performances or shadow theatre...

19:00 – 20:00 Strindberg’s Women Strindberg is not known to be a feminist. He had a very rigid view of women, and it was not very flattering. However, he was a very talented writer and playwright. Meet some of his strongest women when ”Den Där Teatern” plays excerpts from ”The Father” and ”Miss Julie”. Whether Strindberg really hated women or not you will have to decide for yourselves.
