Profound Pirates Sweep CSC Interscholastics

During a recent writing assignment, Ms. Hamilton instructed her students to choose a building, location or area of Porter that had special meaning to them and write a short essay describing the place and its meaning. Porter Pirates’ Football Field by Dylan Pemberton The Porter Pirates’ football field means the most to me. I moved to Porter my sophomore year and the first thing I looked at was the football field. I had great memories at my old school especially because we beat Porter my freshman year. But, Porter is now my football team and I am playing for the Pirates until I graduate. The football field is important because it has helped the school out in many ways. The sport alone in Porter has brought the community closer. The field has had some great scholar athletes’ play on it, but also some non-scholar athletes. The field helps bring enemies to friends and has also made friends enemies. The football field has changed lives for so many people. The first time I saw the football field was amazing. The day I moved to Porter I went to the school to check out the football program. I met Coach Coppedge and was welcomed to the Pirate football family. I was excited because I knew one day I would start for Coach Coppedge and sure enough I did and I’ve made a big impact. The first thing I thought when I saw the field was “This is going to be a great high school!” My favorite memory on the football field was when I got to paint the field before every game. If you are truly a team player then painting the field means a lot to you. I love to paint the field because it’s my field and I want to have a great program. The field looks the way the players make it, I try to make the numbers perfect. In conclusion, the football field has been an inspiration to all of us. I don’t know what I’d do with-out it. The field means a lot to not just me but the community too. I am proud to play football on that field, and I’m proud to be called a Porter Pirate.
