The Crane Girl and the Rain God

Once upon a time, there was a little town by a river named „Stepenitz“.

Once upon a time, there was a little town by a river named „Stepenitz“.

Everybody was happy, they had enough to eat because they had plenty of water.

But, bit by bit they gave up giving water to the plants and the animals. They alwayshad fun and didn‘t care for the water.

So the water dissappeared. People cut the trees and chased away the animals.

No rain- everybody was thirsty- people, animals, plants.

The animals and the plants had complained to the Rain God- so he let all theWater go away to punish people.

The poorest girl of the city were send to the Rain God to ask for the water.She played the flute so wonderful and the animals sang so lovely.

And the water came back. The trees grew again and all the people and animalswere happy to have it. They promised to care forever for the water.
