Item No. R376 - Extension to Municipal Garbage Collection Area 104 Avenue and 160 Street (4557-001)

The Municipal Manager submitted a report from the Municipal Clerk concerning an extension of the Municipal garbage collection area of 104 Avenue and 160 Street.

Discussion

The extension of the garbage collection area was processed under the provision of the Local Improvement Section of the Municipal Act. The 586 property owners were given 30 days to object to the proposed collection service. After the expiry date of 30 days, 144 property owners, representing 25%, had objected.

- 37 -

Accordingly, as 342 property owners are in favour of the garbage collection service, the area bounded by 104 Avenue on the south, 160 Street on the west, 110 Avenue on the north and 168 Street on the east, including Parkview Place, Salisbury Drive and Tilbury Drive, should be added to the Municipal garbage collection area.

The Municipal Manager was recommending that garbage collection service be extended to those properties within the area bounded on the south by 104 Avenue, on the west by 160 Street, on the north by 110 Avenue and on the east by 168 Street including Parkview Place, Salisbury Drive and Tilbury Drive.

It was Moved by Alderman Easton Seconded by Alderman Higginbotham That garbage collection service be

extended to those properties within the area bounded on the south by 104 Avenue, on the west by 160 Street, on the north by 110 Avenue and on the east by 168 Street including Parkview Place, Salisbury Drive and Tilbury Drive.

Before this motion was put,

It was Moved by Alderman Easton Seconded by Alderman Kerr That this matter be tabled for two

Ca r r i ed weeks pending clarification of the number of properties involved.
