Changing the proportions of enrollment in order to

support vocational education and training

The inevitability of reforming the structure of formal initial vocational education: •smaller numbers of students in the grammar schools •ensuring the professional orientation-centeredness in the vocational secondary schools •increasing the number of students choosing the initial vocational training schools for getting a qualification

• higher number of practice lessons within the training programme

• developing professional competencies in the process of production/service under real-life working conditions

• introducing the dual training system(3 years’ training process, work practice in the school workshops already in the 1st year, much less academic and theoretical subjects…)

New strategy – new legislation

New laws in Hungary in 2011: Vocational Education Act, Public Education Act,Act on reforming the funding of vocational education (Act on the contribution to vocational education by the enterprises, public and private companies)

The coordinating tasks of the National Chamber in cooperation

with the regional chambers•determining the professional standards and the examination requirements• organising and administering informal achievement examinations (as a pre-requisite of final examinations)•organising professional competitions•delegating exam board chairpersons and members for the state accredited vocational examinations,•inspecting and supervising the suitability of practice work places for training apprentices •supporting the data collection process for direction-ratios of vocational education and training • extensive connections with business organisations in order to support the training

What is the task of our county chamber?

• operating an advisory network (7 positions for senior advisors in Csongrád County)

• esuring the legality of the apprentice contracts • increasing the training willingness of the

business organisations • inspecting the business organisations, visiting

and advising training places • keeping in touch with the vocational training

schools• assissting enrollment by collecting the

apprentice needs from the practice work places
