description

A talk given at the STM Innovations seminar in December 2006. The talk provides a fleeting history of hypertext and suggests that many recent innovations in web technology were pre-dated by early hypertext research, and hence this proves to be fertile territory for looking for new directions. The presentation also suggests how publishers can be "Good hypertext publishers" and promotes the idea of "deep web integration".

[B]y "hypertext" I mean non-sequential writing -- text that branches and allows choices to the reader, best read at an interactive screen
