Choose Love in Difficult TimesYou Version

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

1 John 4:7

Sometimes it feels like news updates are coming every few minutes. When we give so much of our attention to events beyond our control, we

can lose sight of the power that we do still have. We can choose how we respond to our circumstances. And per-haps even more important, even in the midst of those circumstances, we can choose how we treat others.

Remember the time that Jesus’ disciples were afraid their boat might sink, but then He calmed the storm. Just like Jesus’ disciples, we’re all in the same boat with Jesus — but we’re also in it with each other. And we can choose to encourage one another, to support each other, to love each other, and to point each other back to Jesus.

Love each other, just as I have loved you. If you love each other, everyone will know that you are my disciples. John 13:34–35

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. Proverbs 3:27

2. Support each other. Some of the most meaningful things we can do are simple

and practical. Check in with your neighbors and ask how they’re doing. Share whatever you have. Drop off a meal for someone who can’t get out. Pay for the person behind you in a drive-through. Send an email gift card to a friend.

What about …

We know you’re probably wondering about events that are coming up on the church calendar. Things like Sports Camp and Serve Day. The

short answer is, we are praying about what these events may look like. We are hopeful that as we enter May, we can start to resume some kind of “normal” activity (although maybe modified). But, we are committed to ensuring everyone’s safety and respecting the guidelines of the CDC and our local and national government.

As soon as decisions are made, we will communicate them as quickly and efficiently as possible. Thanks once again for your flexibility during this time. Your prayers are also very appreciated. We ask that you join us in prayer in the com-ing days and weeks as we continue to navigate all of this.

We love you guys! We hope we can see you in person soon!

We were able to serve more than 30 families Easter weekend, and we delivered to 52 families two weeks later! The need in our community is

real. Our volunteers are going above and beyond to finish meals in record time. God is good, and He knew that the needs would be fulfilled. I love being a small part of this amazing team of friends! Thank you for your donations for helping to make this happen! And SPECIAL THANKS for our meal team for preparing the meals and our deliv-ery drivers for dropping off the food to families.

You can donate for our next meal

delivery! Learn more at cccduncannon.com/serve.

You can also request a meal for your family or let us know about another family who may need some help. Visit cccduncannon.com/serve for details!

Where to find us on Sundays

Thanks to everyone who has been tuning in each Sunday to church online. We appreciate your patience as we continue to learn what works

best and how to best connect with each one of you! We’ll be making continuous improvements each week, so we appreciate your patience as we navigate this new way to worship together.

We’ll be posting services at 9am AND 10:30am on Face-book (almost like normal), and on YouTube at 9am. If you are still enjoying breakfast or want to rest a little longer, the service will be available to rewatch after 10am on YouTube (make sure you subscribe to our channel so you don’t miss any upcoming videos) and after 11:30am on Facebook. Our staff will be watching the comments before, during, and after the service, so feel free to drop us a line, leave a comment, tell us your favorite song, or ask a question. This is the best way to interact with our church family! The ser-vices on Facebook and YouTube are both Premier videos, which means we can interact WHILE we watch the service. If you hear something inspiring, post the question as you think of it.

Be sure to tune in about five minutes before the service begins to chat with others in the Cornerstone family!

You can watch the message at any time on our website! Messages will be posted at 9am on Sunday mornings.

We’re going to try something new next Sunday, May 3—communion at home. Taking part in communion is an important part of our faith as

we remember Jesus’ sacrifice for us.

There are no specific requirements for what you use for communion. Some type of bread product (actual bread, crackers, etc.) and some type of juice (any type; water will also work). The actual elements that you have on hand are not as important as what they represent: Jesus’ body, broken for us and His blood, spilled for us.

We hope you’ll tune in on Sunday, May 3. We will guide you and your family through communion together as we remember Jesus’ sacrifice for us.

I told my wife how thankful I was to have someone I enjoyed being quarantined with. She said, “Must be nice.”

Just a little kindness can change someone’s day.

It’s a boy!

Here’s something to celebrate during this crazy time—Ezra Walter Stidfole joined his

brother (Crawford) and sister (Vaida) on Monday, April 20, weighing in at a whopping 9 lbs., 13 ozs.! He was a little bit of an early birthday present for mommy (just two days early), but David and Alicia didn’t mind at all!

It’s your birthday!

Want some chicken?

When someone calls and says they have a pallet of chicken for you, one might wonder what that looks like. Well, a pallet of chicken weighs over a

ton and looks a little something like this.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Mission Central! This will feed SO MANY families in so many ways! Another HUGE THANKS to 3B Ice Cream in Duncannon for help with chicken stor-age until we can start cooking!

I used to spin toilet paper like I was on Wheel of Fortune. Now I turn it like I’m cracking a safe.

Let’s eat!

We’re so excited that, thanks to your donations, we were able to continue to love our nurses on the front lines and provide a well-earned lunch to

Geisinger Holy Spirit CVICU.

Hey, what’s cookin’?Pam Hoover

During these months we’ve been “quarantined” in our homes, most of us have

been doing a lot more cooking than usual. With a lot of restaurants closed completely or open just for takeout, we’ve had to read through those cookbooks on our shelves, search the Internet for some new dish, or maybe called mom for one of grandma’s family recipes.

I know Cornerstone is blessed with many great cooks. There’s evidence of that at our potluck meals, plus our newest ministry, our “Meal Team,” has been preparing meals for many people and families in our community these past few weeks.

It’s been 13 years since our first cookbook was published, and a few people had the idea to do another one since we’ve been spending more time in the kitchen. I’ll be col-lecting recipes in the next few weeks and compiling them into a church cookbook that we can use as a fundraiser for our Reach ministries.

There are Recipe Collection Sheets below and on the next page, plus there will be extra sheets available at the

church office if you happen to stop by the church building. I can also send you a PDF file to print out. If you don’t have a printer, simply mail, text, or email your recipes to me (405 Cassell Street, Marysville, 17053; 717-829-5211; or [email protected]). Feel free to submit as many recipes as you want, and include comments with them if you’d like, such as “This recipe was handed down from my great-grandmother” or “This recipe is great for picnics/large crowds/potluck suppers” or

“These cookies are my kids’ favorite.”

I hope to send everything to the publisher in September so the books will be back to us in plenty of time before Christmas. I have not researched the price with the pub-lisher yet, but based on the cost of the previous cook-book, the price will probably be $10–$12. For those of you who are currently working or those who will be going back to work eventually, I encourage you to take orders at work (if your employer allows), plus sell to your friends and family members. And these will make great Christmas presents!
