The Conditional Tense

• To say what someone would or wouldn’t do, use the conditional tense.

• Like the future tense, you will attach the conditional endings to the infinitive of the verb.

• Additionally, there is only one set of endings for ar/er/ir verbs.

• They are the same endings as the imperfect er/ir endings

Irregular conditional verbs

• Verbs that are irregular in the future tense have the same irregular stem in the conditional tense.

• You still use the regular conditional endings – ía. Ías, ía, íamos, ían.

• You often see the conditional tense used after the expression “si tuviera(s)…” (If you had…)

• Example (**think written final): ¿Si tuvieras $1000, qué comprarías?

• Response: Si yo tuviera $1000, yo compraría…., yo ahorraría…..etc
