Substation Design
ISC entered the offshore wind business with the
development and design of the offshore substation for
the world’s first offshore wind farm in 2003.
This design by ISC has formed the basis for almost all
offshore wind farm substations built today.
ISC key competence derives from the ability to
undertake the complete range of tasks associated with
substation design, from FEED/concept design through
detailed design, tender documents, assistance during
fabrication and installation and commissioning phase,
site supervision and follow up.

The Staff
The combined staff of the company comprises
250 employees (year 2019/20) of which
approximately 70 percent are graduates in
civil and structural engineering, electrical or
mechanical and related disciplines.
Furthermore, ISC maintains standing agreements
of cooperation with individual experts and public
scientific institutions, thereby supplementing
the company’s know-how in connection with
assignments requiring multiprofessional teams
of specialists outside the company’s own staff.

BE A PART OF OUR FUTURE
The Company
ISC Consulting Engineers A/S was founded in 1967 by
Kjeld Thomsen M.Sc. (Struct. Eng.), former associate
professor at the Technical University of Denmark.
ISC offices are located in Copenhagen, Esbjerg, Viborg,
Kalundborg, Kolding, Aarhus and Aalborg in Denmark,
and Wellington in New Zealand.
ISC is an Engineering services company based in
Denmark working worldwide to create value for our
clients through innovative engineering solutions for on-
and offshore projects.
ISC has been providing engineering services to offshore
wind projects since we designed the world’s first
Offshore Substation almost 20 years ago.
ISC provides engineering design service solutions
within sectors such as Offshore Wind, Offshore Oil &
Gas, Buildings, Energy, Industry and Infrastructure such
as Industrial Plants, Power Stations, Port Facilities,
Oil & Gas, Airports, Bridges and Railways.
ISC has worldwide experience gained on projects
carried out in more than 70 countries on five
continents.
Wind Energy
One of the key competences in ISC is Wind Energy.
Since the design of the offshore substation for the
world’s first offshore wind farm in 2003, ISC has been
a key player in the wind Energy business and offering
engineering services for Substations, Wind turbine
foundations and onshore substations.
Today the list of reference counts more than 36
offshore substations, several WTG foundation projects
and a highly experienced and skilled team.
Offshore surveys, site supervision, assistance during
the full project execution, numerous studies and new
concept developments are part of the portfolio.
Our services has been performed directly for wind park
owners, EPC or EPCI partnership for all major players in
the offshore wind energy business.
We continuously challenge the design and way of
thinking together with our Clients to obtain innovative
solutions.
ISC and Offshore Substation Design
ISC Consulting Engineers A/S has extensive experience
in the design of offshore substations, dating back to
the design of the world’s first offshore substation,
installed at the Nysted Offshore Wind Farm in 2003.
ISC’s experience in the design of offshore structures is
founded on knowledge obtained over 40 years in the
offshore oil and gas industry.
Since then ISC has successfully undertaken the
complete detailed design of a further 36 offshore
substations. ISC’s portfolio clearly demonstrates a
comprehensive expertise within the field of offshore
substation design, including a broad spectrum of
topside layouts as well as jacket, gravity based and
monopile substructures.
ISC has also demonstrated the ability to work alongside
local authorities to produce superior solutions which
conform to the local regulations and authority approval.
Furthermore ISC has developed new concepts
employing modularization for standard offshore
substation platforms as well as custom fit solutions for
Clients World Wide.
In addition the detailed design ISC has performed
numerous concept and FEED studies for offshore
