February 2017

Dear Brothers and Sisters: Assalamu

Alaikum.

I am pleased to inform you that we

are making good progress towards

our goal to move in the new masjid

for the next Ramadhan. With the

blessings of

AllahSWT – your generosity resulted

in raising $485,000 during the year

2016 for construction – the best year

ever for Cary Masjid. This helped us

complete many phases of construc-

tion.

Also, we have successfully launched

a Quran Hifth program under the

guidance of Shaikh Abdullah Khadra.

Currently our enrollment is up to

capacity – Insha Allah in our new

facility, we will increase it. Our Sun-

day School is doing very well – again

we are full to our capacity.

During the next three months, we

will need your continued support,

morally, financially, and with Duas

to fulfill our dream of the new Mas-

jid.

Regards,

Shakil Ahmed

Jumada Al-Awwal is the fifth month in the

Islamic calendar. Historically, however, the

month takes its name from the Arabic

word “dry”, as seasonally the Middle East

region begins its heat-scorching summer and

many desert oasis’ run dry of water. This can

be a challenging time for many individuals,

however we must reflect on the virtues Islam

and the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon

Him) has taught us, including that

of “gratitude” and “hope”.

The term ‘virtue’ appears in our daily lives

quite frequently, but what is virtue and how

can we implement these characteristics into

our lives? There are many unique virtues of

Islam and of the Holy Prophet as compared

with his predecessors. While the preceding

Prophets were endorsed with only one divine

virtue to help them to make their mission suc-

cessful, the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be

Upon Him) had the exclusive distinction of

possessing all those divinely-inspired virtues

in him which were bestowed upon his prede-

cessors individually.

The Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was endowed with the exemplary pa-

tience granted to Prophet Ayub (Peace Be

Upon Him), the miraculous virtues possessed

by the staff given to Prophet Musa (Peace Be

Upon Him), the healing wisdom possessed by

Prophet Isa (Peace Be Upon Him), the perfect

human beauty bestowed upon Prophet Yusuf

(Peace Be Upon Him), and the supreme faith

owned by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace Be Upon

Him). What is important is that we take these

“virtues” and find some way of implementing

them into our lives - not only will it make us

better people but will also help us to follow

the true path and help us grow towards the

creator.

EDITORIAL

And (remember) when your Lord proclaimed: "If

you give thanks (by accepting Faith and worship-

ping none but Allah), I will give you more (of My

Blessings), but if you are thankless (i.e. disbeliev-

ers), verily! My Punishment is indeed severe."

[Surah Ibrahim, Ayat 7]

Sahih-Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 26, Number 661:

Narrated by Aisha.

The people used to fast on 'Ashura (the tenth day

of the month of Muharram) before the fasting of

Ramadan was made obligatory. And on that day

the Ka'ba used to be covered with a cover. When

Allah made the fasting of the month of Ramadan

compulsory, Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever

wishes to fast (on the day of 'Ashura') may do so;

and whoever wishes to leave it can do so."

Alhamdu Lillah, by the Grace of AllahSWT

we are well positioned to move in to our new Masjid during the Ramadhan of 2017. Physi-

cally the remaining work can be completed in the next three months, the major challenge would be to raise the necessary funds to do it.

Following is a list of major items that need to be done. This list is to complete everything except the 2nd

and 3rd

floor, which will be

completed by 2018, Insha Allah.

A list of major items needed for move-in during the Ramadhan (2017):

FINANCIAL UPDATE

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

We ended the year 2016 as the most successful year in fund raising in Cary Masjid history. We are so grateful to AllahSWT and

your generosity – May Allah reward abundantly all who participated.

As the charts below reflect, in 2016 we raised 44% more in construction funds than in 2015. But, our efforts in Operations funds

continue to struggle – we ended the year with a shortfall of $34,662.
