DEADLINE FOR BULLETIN SUBMISSIONS Monday at 12 Noon with Holiday exceptions

Dear Parishioners, Very soon Christians the world over will gather to cele-brate God’s gift of true and abiding love on Christmas day. As we prepare to enter into the season of Christ-mas, we approach the manger scene with great hope in the promise of the Word made flesh – Christ our Savior. As the star in the Bethlehem sky over 2,000 years ago summoned the world to the presence of the Incarnate Son of God, so too the brilliance of the Light of Christ summons us all this Christmas to ponder the gift of life that He has given to us all. Christmas is filled with countless family traditions and sentiments that bring joy to our hearts, but the tradition that Jesus calls us to, is that which reminds us to “Do this in memory of Me” – the Mass of Christmas recalls the birth of Jesus and ‘re-presents’ His sacrifice on the Cross. I can think of no greater gifts this Christmas than the gift of Jesus Himself truly present in the Most Holy Eucharist that we receive at the Christmas Mass. Please join us with family and friends at this most sacred moment. As the Light of Christ beckons us to celebrate Christmas, I wish to make a special request of you as you a end Christmas Mass here in our Collaborative of St. Ann and St. Brendan: Please remember the good works of your priests who have served you over the years in your pray-ers and by contributing generously to this year’s Christ-mas collection. This traditional collection is given solely to support the health and retirement needs of the fine priests of the Archdiocese of Boston. As always, the need is great. Please know of my sincere gratitude and that of Father Fiorillo for your kind and generous re-membrance of your priests this Christmas. I look forward to welcoming you and the many that will come to our churches this Christmas. May this season of great hope touch your hearts and confirm in you the peace and love of the Divine Messiah. Please know of my prayers for you and those you hold dear in the Christmastide. In His peace, Father Michael E. Drea Pastor

A Reflection on Christmas from Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

At Christmas the joyful announcement of the birth of the Redeemer resounds in all parts of the globe: The hoped-for Messiah was made man and dwelt among us. With His luminous pres-ence, Jesus has dissipated the shadows of error and sin and has brought to humanity the joy of divine blind love, of which the Christmas tree is a sign and a reminder. The Christmas tree is an invitation to receive in one’s heart the gift of the joy, peace and love of Jesus. To believe in Christ means to let yourself be encompassed by the light of His truth that gives full meaning, value and sense to our existence, given that precisely to reveal to us the mystery of His Father and of His love, He also reveals man fully to himself and shows to him his lofty vocation.
