The Cold War began on September 2, 1945 according to the U.S Federal Law, and ended December 26, 1991.

May 1, 2003 is the cold war victory day.

1. During the Cold War, USSR(Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) thought that the heavily trafficked building in the center courtyard of the Pentagon was a top-secret meeting room and pointed nukes at it. It was a hot dog stand

2. The US Air Force developed a top-secret plan to detonate a nuclear bomb on the moon as a display of military might at the height of the Cold War. The mathematical modeling for the explosion was done by Carl Sagan.

3. During the Cold War, America used bears to test their ejector seats in supersonic jets.

● Bomb shelters were used to protect people from nuclear blasts and high radiation levels.

● They were made of steel, concrete and often lead to keep radiation out.

● Canned food, water, emergency oxygen tanks and beds were common in most shelters.
