(Nov. 13, 2013) The ruggedPitbull 2300 Screening Plant manufactured byLake Erie Portable Screeners gives landscapers,contractors and municipalities a compact andportable machine that delivers maximum effi-ciency and high outputs with a wide range of ma-terials such as topsoil, mulch, gravel and asphalt.It is available in both diesel and electric-poweredmodels.

Lake Erie Portable Screeners developed the Pit-bull 2300 with simple operation, maintenanceand transport in mind. The machine incorporatesseveral unique features, such as full hydraulic op-eration, tubular frame construction, a Torflex axleand a reversible shaker, that set it apart for mid-size screening projects.

The company manufactures Pitbull 2300 frameswith high-quality, structural tube steel. The tubu-lar construction reduces noise and vibration,which in turn minimizes the risk of cracks andstructural failures that are common in machineswith C-channel construction. The screening plantincorporates heavy-duty materials throughout, allthe stress points are fully gusseted, and both at-tachment points and stress points are 100 percentwelded with high-strength steel. The result is amachine with a curb weight of 13,440 pounds.

The Pitbull 2300s 20-foot-long stacking con-veyor adjusts hydraulically from heights of 6 feet,8 inches up to 13 feet to feed material directly

into a tri-axle or dump truck. This allows users tocreate larger stockpiles, which increases effi-ciency by reducing the number of times equip-ment needs to be moved. These attributes,combined with the ability to place the machine atthe point of excavation, minimize spillage anddramatically reduce cycle times and haulage coststypically associated with loading and unloadingmaterial when using stationary plants.

With the machines legal width of 8 feet, 4inches and either a standard pintle hitch or op-tional gooseneck towing package, the Pitbull2300 is easy to move from site to site, as well. A10K Torflex axle with oil bath hubs provides acushioning effect so the unit tows smoothly andstress to the tow vehicle is reduced. Upon arrival,users can quickly and easily lower the unit to op-erating position with the hydraulic system, whicheliminates pressure on the axle, tires or wheelsduring screening. The hydraulic system raises themachine back to towing position with the flip ofa lever. The machine also features heavy-dutysuspension, electric breaks and trailer lights forsafe and legal travel.

The screening plant is equipped with a loadingapron that accepts up to three yards of material ata time and up to five yards at a time with a slowerdump speed. With its low dump height of 8 feet,4 inches, users do not need loading ramps; theycan fill the hopper using typical constructionequipment like skid steers, backhoes, loaders orexcavators.

The portable screening plant also includes anupper and lower screening deck, each with morethan 41 square feet of screening area. The upperand lower decks are equipped with two sectionsof screening media on each deck. The companyoffers optional punch plate or finger decks for thetop deck in addition to a wide range of screensizes for processing all types of materials. Oper-ators can quickly and easily change screens byloosening tension bolts that hold each one in-place. The screeners also can be equipped withoptional upper and lower discharge chutes toallow for up to three different sizes of screenedmaterials.

In addition to the adjustable stacking conveyor,the Pitbull 2300 features a hydraulically driventransfer conveyor that moves screened materialfrom the hopper to the stacking conveyor. Hy-draulic motors on the conveyors provide contin-uous flow of power to achieve production ratesup to 100 yards per hour of clean, saleable mate-rial. Because the conveyors are hydraulic ratherthan chain- or belt-driven like many competingmodels, the Pitbull 2300 eliminates the risk ofpower loss and downtime due to broken chains orbelts.

The units power plant is equipped with a reliable47-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine that com-plies with 2008 EPA Tier 4 and EU Stage IIIAemissions standards. The engine compartmentfeatures large doors at the top and bottom thatopen wide for easy maintenance and repair ac-cess. The company also offers a 60 horsepower,480-volt AC electrical package for applicationsin confined or enclosed spaces like tunnels, minesand indoor projects.
