Cluster models can be defined in several different ways depending on the application. Within the clean technology space they tend to represent a grouping of businesses, technologies, or other resources that flow from one to another in a synergistic, sustainable manner.

Often, these groupings are physically located together to easily allow for the movement of resources from one technology to another. Using waste outputs and converting them into energy to power a facility is a good example of how technologies can be clustered to support each other.

04

The Net Zero Cluster Model focuses on a closed-loop system. By bringing several sustainable technologies together in one physical location, the Net Zero Cluster Model aims to produce greater efficiencies with less risk. This becomes a more sustainable approach to modern technologies such as vertical farming, solar fields, and water treatment.

All of Net Zero’s solutions within organic food production or farming involve water conservation. We use less than 1% of the water that traditional farming methods do.

All of our food products (currently shrimp, fish, leafy greens, and herbs) is 100% Organic and always Non-GMO. Our farms are typically self-sustained from an energy, water, and waste perspective.

Our farms and technologies can be applied anywhere in the world. We rely on an indoor environment to ensure consistent production and quality 365 days per year. Each farm is also not reliant upon the sun or access to water, which makes local and urban farming a reality and not only a buzzword.

Water is an essential component in all of our projects. Whether we are farming, growing food, producing energy and biofuels, or constructing buildings, we make every effort to assure we provide the highest quality and environmentally responsible water possible.

Because water is such a sacred resource, providing excellent solutions in this area is essential to our mission. We currently rely on proven water recycling and filtration technologies, such as hydroponic vertical farming,  in which our facilities purify local non-potable water to a potable state, then replicate the process for all projects- resulting in less that 1% water consumption in comparison with traditional methodologies.

Waste (including solid, liquid, semi-solid, or contained gaseous material) results from industrial, commercial, mining, food, agricultural operations, and everyday activities. These non-recyclables are destined for landfills though they are actually full of materials that can be chemically recycled into renewable energy and biofuels.

NZE can process completely unsorted (and even hazardous) waste to produce green energy, biofuels, precious metals and minerals, and water. This means our technology gives us the ability to mine old landfills or hazardous areas. All of our solutions are free of SOx, NOx emissions and utilize a non-incineration process.

Net Zero Enterprises implements several technologies in order to improve efficiency and output of energy and biofuels. In all of the cases, technologies are clustered together and the environment is taken into primary consideration. Some of these technologies are:

• Waste to energy• Utility grade solar farms• Wind farms• Biodigestors• Hydropower In addition, NZE is capable of producing a high quality output (even jet fuel grade) by utilizing feedstock or a waste stream.

We provide a state of the art solution for fast-track construction projects with energy-efficient, eco-friendly, easy-to-install building solutions in commercial and residential projects. A Net Zero construction means it is either energy self-sustained or a building that is providing more energy than it consumes.

We focus on both carbon neutral commercial and residential land development with the following common denominators:

• Moisture Resistant• Superior Fire Resistance• Thermal & Sound Insulation with R values

up to R50• A Net Zero Environmental impact• Termite, Mold and Mildew Free• Outstanding Air Quality

11

With the main goal of creating a more efficient and profitable system, project clusters synergize their inputs and outputs to preserve resources.

A good example of an effective cluster model would be using the waste from a fish farm and converting it to energy to run the facility. By incorporating other technologies like water filtration, water reuse, solar panels, and vertical use of space, the location becomes self-sustaining. This represents what is known as a “closed-loop” system.

CleanTechnology

Page 17: The Cleantech Cluster Model

12

Apart from combining our proven technologies, the cluster model can serve a greater purpose: allowing less than optimized technologies to come together for sustainable and profitable resource production.

For example, if less water is needed to produce the same (or better) quality or quantity of food, then profits rise. This becomes an investment in a closed-loop cluster that makes fiscal sense.

WHY

NETZEROENTERPRISES.COM

Increase Revenue

Page 18: The Cleantech Cluster Model
Page 19: The Cleantech Cluster Model

13

While risk is inherent in all business ventures, creating a self-sustaining cluster model can lower that risk. One example is a properly built shrimp farm. Several technologies can be combined to reduce morbidity and increase production, in turn lowering the risk on the project. Multiple independent streams of revenue inherently reduce the overall risk of the business as a whole.

Water filtration and many small tanks keep the shrimps’ immediate environment clean and isolate any potential problems to a very small area. Treatment of that water for reuse allows the business location to be less dependent on environmental factors in order to operate. Constraints like drought or space are less important to the business’ success, thus allowing closed-looped projects to exist virtually anywhere in the word.

WHY

NETZEROENTERPRISES.COM

Lower Project Risk

Page 20: The Cleantech Cluster Model

14

The closed-loop cluster model is inherently good for the environment.

Many of the benefits include:• Reduced waste• Lower consumption of resources• Less utilization of space• Not dependent on geo-location• Potential for off municipal grid operations

Individually these benefits prove to be environmentally-friendly. When combined, a clustered and closed-loop operation can work at a “net zero” impact to the environment.

An example of the Net Zero Enterprises’ Cluster Model is the Plant Growth Net Zero Aqualife, LLC (PGNZA) project.

Net Zero Enterprises’ technology incorporates solar and biomass renewable energy systems to create a self sustained, carbon neutral, shrimp farming cluster. This project, developed in an industrial desert region, aims to satisfy the increasing demand for premium green-labeled, locally-sourced seafood.

Shrimp is one of the largest seafood industries in the United States and has a growing demand. In 2002, shrimp overtook canned tuna as the most consumed seafood per capita in the US. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Americans consumed an average of 3.8 pounds of shrimp in 2012, a 100% increase from 30 years ago.

17

The U.S. is significantly behind in the field of aquaculture, however; according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, American farmers made up 0.8% of global aquaculture production in 2011. Fisheries’ officials estimate that doubling American aquaculture production could create 50,000 jobs and more than $1 billion in revenue for farmers. In addition, the average price of shrimp imported into the US during the first quarter of 2014 was 45% higher than in 2013; Darden Restaurants stated that rising shrimp costs could add $30 million to Red Lobster’s expenses in 2014.

Currently, the U.S. imports over 91% of its seafood, half of which originates from outdoor aquaculture—making it susceptible to disease, pollution, pharmaceutical substances, and a host of other impediments to food safety. Coupled with the forewarning that “shrimp harvesting from the world’s oceans can no longer safely meet demands for shrimp,” there is an unprecedented opportunity to profitably satisfy the U.S. consumer. In addition, there is an opportunity to strategically mobilize organizational talents and technologies to practically and cost-effectively help meet the need to feed the world population.
