THE CIVIL NEWS LETTER The Department of Civil Engineering at Holy Mary Institute of Technology & Science was established in the year 2011. B. Tech, (CIVIL) Program was duly approved by the AICTE and Government of Andhra Pradesh and affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad. It has intake capacity of 120 students. All the laboratories are well established with state of the advanced equipment. Bathukamma 2k18

Bathukamma is floral festival celebrated by the Hindu

women of Telangana. Every year this festival is

celebrated as per shalivahana calendar for nine days

starting Bhadrapada amavasya (also known as

mahalaya amavasya or pitru amavasya) till

Durgastami, usually in September-October.

The Bathukamma’s were then taken in a

procession to the entrance where women

employees played in circles around bathukamma

singing the popular bathukamma songs.

Women employees of the college prepared

bathukamma using a variety of wild flowers in

vibrant colours including - gunugu, tangedi,

banti, chamanti, gummadi etc.

IInd Year-Industrial visit

The CEMEX INFRA PVT.LMT at Cherlapally in

R.R. Dist. Was visited by the students and faculties, to

know about the preparation of cements and practices

held in the site. The site was including in different

types of cements and minerals and the students were

explained about different type of cements.

IIIrd Year-Industrial visit

CONSTRUCTIONS INDIA PVT.LTD at

TARNAKA , Rangareddy District , visited by the

students and faculties, to know about the

construction methods and practices held in the

site. The site was including a steel structure and

Reinforced Concrete structures and the students

were explained about different type of

constructions.

IVth Year-Industrial visit

An Industrial trip was organized by the Civil Engineering Department for the benefit of students to have the

practical knowledge in civil engineering field. The Final year students were taken for the visit with the

assistance of class in-charges and related teachers.

NOV 2018, to a site which was under construction by the A.V CONSTRUCTIONS

INDIA PVT.LTD at MEDIPALLY(PEERZADIGUDA) , Rangareddy District

NSS Activities

It is a practice of bidding the laddu before

Ganesha’s immersion. This tradition of bidding it

has been continuing for nearly two decades now,

and it is believed that the laddu brings prosperity

to whoever wins it in the auction.

The festive fervour in Hyderabad has reached

fever pitch on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Like every year, the Ganesh Laddu of

HITSCollege was put on auction on and sold to

the highest bidder 4th

Freshers Day-2018

Fresher’s Day is a welcome party to newcomers and

there is a need to be friendly and motivate juniors. But

these days, fresher parties have become fashion shows

and are celebrated in college. Though we enjoy a lot in

such places, it also attracts youth to unhealthy habits.

conducting service oriented training and development programmes.

Program Educational Objective

PEO 1:

To prepare the students for entry into successful employment as software engineers in industry, service,

consulting and/or government organizations or for advanced study at leading graduate schools in

engineering, business, management or other technical or non-technical fields.

PEO 2:

To encourage teamwork skills among the students to design and implement complex software systems,

particularly the ability to work with people from other fields in integrated engineering teams and

develop the leadership skills for maximizing the performance of those teams.

PEO 3:

To offer a curriculum that encourages students to become broadly educated engineers and to equip with

the attitudes and skills to foster learning themselves for life long, an ability to communicate effectively

with various audiences and function as responsible member of the global society.
