Half term is upon us already and it has surely been a very busy and exciting half term. Of course this week we welcomed Ofsted to the Academy for a one day inspection. Alongside meetings with staff, the two inspectors visited many classrooms, spoke to lots children, looked closely at children’s work and met with Governors and Board members. We are pleased that they did not feel it was necessary to visit for an additional day and we await their report which is expected towards the end of March/beginning of April. Thank you all who responded on Parent View – your support is valued. I hope you all have a restful half-term and come back refreshed and raring to go. Mr C M Wright Principal

World Book Day
World Book Day comes to CCA!
Thursday 2nd March will be
World Book Day’s 20th anniversary!
To celebrate all staff and students are invited to come to school in fancy dress
as their favourite character from a fiction book. There will be prizes for
the best costume in each year group, one per house. In addition, there will be activities in school during the day.
Safer Internet
Christ Church Academy took a new approach to celebrating Safer Internet Day 2017. Instead
of teachers showing pupils videos and internet safety rules, this year pupils shared tips and rules
that they had found useful. The best were then chosen to educate adults and older teenagers using Twitter. Featured here with their tweets are Year 5
pupils; Liberty Bradford, Ashton Williams, Amelia Heath, Molly Thompson, Keelan Hope,
Danny Watson, Freddie Hutchison-Perry, Lyla Partridge and Jacob Lovatt.
May we take the opportunity to remind parents that the majority of social networking sites
including WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, twitter and snapchat have a minimum age
requirement of 13. Therefore, children younger that 13 should not be using such sites.

Rugby Match on Wednesday 15th February
This Wednesday in wet conditions CCA’s, Year 7s, put in a good performance against Royal Wolverhampton
Grammar School.
It was a very tough game against a strong team which resulted in CCA coming second best 3—2.
Gethin and Roman both had good performances.
Roman did well in defence and Gethin stole the show with 2 tries.
Rugby Match
On Friday 27th January pupils went to watch a game
of rugby in Manchester. They saw Sale Sharks play
Cardiff Blues in the Anglo Welsh Cup. They saw a
thrilling match with Sale wining 35-3. They were also
guards of honour for the game which meant that they
lead the players out and welcomed them onto the
pitch through a tunnel of waving flags.
