Amazing Grace

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound,That saved a wretch; like me!I once was lost, but now am found,Was blind, but now I see.

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appearThe hour I first believed!

Through many dangers, toils and snares,I have already come;’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,And grace will lead me home.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,Bright shining as the sun,We’ve no less days to sing God’s praiseThan when we first begun.

What Child Is This

What child is this, who, laid to rest,On Mary’s lap is sleeping?Whom angels greet with anthems sweet,While shepherds watch are keeping? This, this is Christ the King,Whom shepherds guard and angels sing:Haste, haste to bring Him laud,The babe, the son of Mary.

Why lies He in such mean estate,Where ox and donkeys are feeding?Good Christians, fear, for sinners hereThe silent Word is pleading.Nails, spears shall pierce him through, the cross he bore for me, for you.Hail, hail the Word made flesh, the Babe, the Son of Mary.

So bring him incense, gold, and myrrh,Come, peasant, king, to own him.The King of kings salvation brings,Let loving hearts enthrone him.Raise, raise a song on high,The virgin sings her lullabyJoy, joy for Christ is born,The babe, the Son of Mary.

This, this is Christ the King,Whom shepherds guard and angels sing:Haste, haste to bring Him laud,The babe, the son of Mary.

Christmas Story

Have you ever wondered what we might see if we could pull back the curtain of time to that very first Christmas?

Well…there was a young girl named Mary who was engaged to a man named Joseph. He was the great-great-great-great-great grandson of King David. One morning this girl was in her house when a shining angel named Gabriel appeared right in front of her. She was afraid, but Gabriel said, ”Don’t be afraid I’m here to tell you some good news from God! Mary you are going to have a little baby, a baby boy and you will name him Jesus! He’s the one Mary! Your baby is going to save the world!” Mary was very excited and ran to tell Joseph. It took Joseph some time to understand it all, but an angel told Joseph not to be afraid, and to still take Mary as his wife and just as the angel had told them; Mary became pregnant. Right about that same time Mary & Joseph had to go to a town called Bethlehem where Joseph was from so that they could be registered. When they got to the city they tried to find a place to stay so that Mary could have her baby. But there was no room anywhere. So Mary and Joseph found a stable, surrounded by animals, filled with hay and even poo!

… and that’s where Mary had her baby, the baby Jesus!

There He was, God’s wonderful gift to the world! The Bible tells us that one of his names was Emmanuel which means “God is with us”! On the same night that Jesus was born a brand new star appeared in the sky and it was very bright! This new star was shining in the sky right over the stable where Jesus was born.

Christmas Story

14

Nearby in a field some shepherds were watching their sheep and all of the sudden a whole bunch of angels appeared in the sky and began to sing and shout that Jesus, God’s Son, had been born. God must have thought that shepherds were pretty important because He chose them to be the first to hear the news! After they heard the angels singing “Glory to God in the Highest!” and “Peace on Earth”, the shepherds went as fast as they could to go and find the place where Jesus was born so that they could worship him. And that’s what they did; they came to the stable and found Mary and Joseph and Jesus and they fell down on their knees and worshipped him! Far away in the East three really clever men saw the star in the sky. They were very excited because they had been waiting for a sign like this, to show them that the new baby King had been born. They started travelling right away to come and find the baby so that they could worship Him too. They rode their camels for many days and finally came to the place where Jesus was. They brought him beautiful gifts of gold and special spices and perfumes. They also fell on their knees and worshipped Jesus because he was the son of God who had come to save the world.

So that’s how God’s plan was carried out. And that is the story of How Jesus was born into this world so that He could save us! Jesus, the Prince of Heaven, would bring all people closer to God, even if they did something really wrong, so that now nothing can get between us and God’s love!

Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace and good will toward all men!

Angels We Have Heard On High

Angels we have heard on highSweetly singing o’er the plains,And the mountains in replyEchoing their joyous strains.

• Refrain: Gloria, in excelsis Deo! Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

Shepherds, why this jubilee? Why your joyous strains prolong? What the gladsome tidings beWhich inspire your heav’nly song?

Come to Bethlehem and seeHim Whose birth the angels sing;Come, adore on bended knee,Christ the Lord, the newborn King.

See Him in a manger laid,Whom the choirs of angels praise;Mary, Joseph, lend your aid,While our hearts in love we raise.

O Holy Night

O Holy night the stars are brightly shining, It is the night of the dear Saviour’s birth,Long lay the worldIn sin and error pining,Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth,A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

Fall on your knees,O hear the angel voices,O night divine,O night when Christ was born.O night divine,O night, O night divine !

Led by the light of faith serenely beaming, With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand. So Led by the light of a star sweetly gleaming. Here came the wisemen from Orient land. The King of kings lay thus in lowly manger; In all our trials born to be our friend.

Fall on your knees,O hear the angel voices,O night divine,O night when Christ was born.O night divine,O night, O night divine !

Truly He taught us to love one another; His law is love and His gospel is peace;Chains shall He break, for the slave is our brother,And in His name all oppression shall cease,Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,Let all within us Praise His holy name!

Fall on your knees,O hear the angel voices,O night divine,O night when Christ was born.O night divine,O night, O night divine !

Joy To The World

Joy to the world! The Lord is come;Let earth receive her King;Let ev’ry heart prepare Him room,And heav’n and nature sing,And heav’n and nature sing,And heav’n and heav’n and nature sing.

Joy to the earth! The Savior reigns;Let men their songs employ; While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plainsRepeat the sounding joy,Repeat the sounding joy,Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.

He rules the world with truth and grace, and makes the nations proveThe glories of His righteousness,And wonders of His love,And wonders of His love,And wonders, wonders of His love.
