  • Creekside’s Harvest Food Drive

    November 1-17

In keeping with the spirit of Thanksgiving and our Character Trait of the month, Citizenship, Creekside is sponsoring our annual Harvest Food Drive. We are asking Creekside families to donate non-perishable items (such as canned goods or boxed foods) so that families experiencing hard times may have a bountiful Thanksgiving. You may send donations with your child to school or you may

place them in the Harvest Food Drive boxes near the main office. Boxes will be out during Parent Teacher Conferences if you wish to bring donations with you at that time.

Staff will be delivering all donated items to a local food pantry that provides for families in our area. Please have all donations submitted to Creekside by Friday, November 17th to facilitate distribution of items by Thanksgiving Day.

If you have any questions, you can call the Creekside office at

815-577-4700. We are grateful for your support!

    Character Trait of the Month

In November, Creekside Cheetahs will continue focusing on Citizenship. On Wednesday, November 1st, we will kick off our trait again by wearing

purple and sweats: “It is NO SWEAT to show good character!” We will continue to focus on ways to be good citizens at school, at home, in our community, and helping others around the world. One way students can

contribute and get involved this month is by sending in cans of food (nonperishable items) for the Harvest Food Drive. We will be collecting

cans from November 1st through November 17th.

    Remember: Character Counts!!

    Smile!! Don’t forget that Wednesday,

November 8 is Picture Retakes. If you had pictures taken and you don’t like

them, send the package back with your child and Lifetouch will retake the picture. If your child was absent or you just forgot to

order, you can place an order for pictures at this

    time.

    TIPS FOR STAYING HEALTHY

THIS WINTER Many infections are the result of passing germs from objects to the mouth. The best prevention of transmission of germs is to wash hands often, especially before meals and after using the bathroom. An-other way infections are spread is through droplets from one person to another. Cov-ering sneezes and coughs helps to pre-vent the spread of germs through droplet transmission. Many viruses and bacteria cause our body temperature to rise. Fever is one sign of infection. The school policy is that chil-dren should be free of a fever for 24 hours without fever reducing medications before returning to school. Stay home if you have a fever. (See District Hand-book page 27). Good nutrition is essential to staying healthy. Fruits and vegetables contain vit-amins and minerals that help boost our im-mune system keeping us healthy. Eating 5 fruits and/or vegetables every day helps us get our daily dose of vitamins and min-erals. Also, dehydration can cause consti-pation (the most frequent cause of stom-ach aches in school age children), dry mu-cous membranes (making it easier for germs to invade), headaches, bladder in-fections, and dry itchy skin. Drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration. Kids need exercise, fresh air and sunshine even in the winter. Allow plenty of outside play. Dress appropriately and enjoy!

CAN YOU HELP US RAISE SOME

    DOUGH?

PTA is having a Krispy Kreme Fundraiser. Doughnuts are $10 per dozen. Students will sell/take orders from Nov. 1 - Nov. 10. All orders and money are due by Friday, November 10th. Order pickup is Wednesday, November 15th from 5:30pm-6:30pm. Nov. 15th is also our next PTA meeting so pick up your donuts and then stay for the meeting to hear about all the other exciting things happening at Creekside.

Parking Lot Safety We would like to remind our Creekside families that our front driveway is a one-way only. Please refrain from pulling between the cones and making a U-turn. Also, when signing out your student during the school day, please make sure you are pulling into a parking space either in the front drive or the main lot. Please refrain from parking along the sidewalk as it blocks the flow of traffic for arrival and dismissal.

Pawcake Breakfast Student of the Month Pawcake Breakfast will be on Friday, December 1 at 8:15 am. If your student was chosen as Student of the Month, you will receive a permission slip for them to

attend. It’s No SWEAT to show Good Character. Wear sweats and/or purple to finish out the Citizenship Character Trait
