The Rearview Mirror

It’s fun to see all of the energy and enthusiasm at the Independence Chamber of Commerce these days. The level of activity is at a multi-year peak and it seems there is something for everyone, because we see so many types of people are participating in our events. Members are engaged, the committees are having fun, and our initiatives are generating great feedback. Congratulations to everyone on a great year!

As I look back on 2015, it’s been an awesome run for me personally. We have had our share of challenges but we have successfully overcome them and the Chamber has emerged as the politically-relevant business organization that we all want and need it to be.

From the chairman’s seat in the board-room, here are just a few of the highlights: • We are on a sound financial footing and have hit our targets for 2015 • Staff and members alike are experiencing high morale in regards to the Chamber • The Chamber has been instrumental in vital community initiatives (a) Independence Civic Council (b) Economic Development Summit (c) Academies of ISD (with a dedicated Chamber employee assisting) • We held a very successful SantaCaliGon Festival by virtually any measure • Created our own Chamber 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation • Enjoying community support from across the spectrum of stakeholders

Additionally, we have some initial work accomplished on a Strategic Plan that should bear fruit in the years to come. The board of directors is engaged and working actively on membership initiatives for 2016. And our events and programs continue to help our members and friends with networking, business education and opportunities to impact the business climate in our region. I want to thank the entire community for rallying behind the Chamber this year and for the personal expressions of friendship and support from so many of you. Independence is a wonderful place to live and work and it’s been a pleasure serving.

Thank you for the opportunity!

New Membership Directory

INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI 2015 | MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY & RESOURCE GUIDE1

The Independence Chamber is again partnering with Chamber member MetroMedia, to design, write, and publish the annual Membership Directory for 2016. In January, the sales staff from MetroMedia will begin contacting members about advertising opportunities in the directory for the Independence Chamber of Commerce.

The full-color directory will be approximately 100 pages in length and provide an easy guide to the membership of the Chamber, Chamber benefits and opportunities, business resources, and who’s who in the business community.

The 2016 publication will not only be distributed to all Chamber members and prospects but it will also be available online via the Chamber website as an interactive flipbook edition. Tens of thousands of views and/or downloads are anticipated for this additional distribution method.

The projected publication date for the 2016 Chamber Membership Directory is the begin-ning of April. Please consider being a part of this annual publication that adorns the desk of almost every business decision maker in Independence and Eastern Jackson County.

With 32 member businesses advertising in the 2015 Membership Directory, space will go fast for the 2016 Directory. Businesses interested in being an advertiser in this annual pub-lication should contact Tammie Easson at 417-629-7935 or contact Alex Colley at the Chamber.
