to the next one!
A special thanks to all who made this event possible
and everyone involved.
On Thursday, Octo-ber 2nd CETES hosted their 2nd annual block party event. Not even the chill in the air could hinder the excitement of the festivities; it was a tremendous success with a large turnout, great food, live music, and won-derful speakers. A great time
was had by all.
The day started with delicious BBQ from Choices International Catering and was followed by the live music of The Makeup Call, a local band. Several leaders from the campus and the community stopped by
to comment on CETES and what we do here on cam-pus. Dr. Osagie gave some great advice to atten-dees, for exam-ple, and Joe Podolinski, Director of the Fayette-Washington Keystone Innova-tion Zone (KIZ), explained the function of a KIZ and described the newly formed partnership between CETES and KIZ. Eve-ryone also got to hear a CETES
success story from two stu-dents who formed a busi-ness through the aid of our virtual incuba-tor. Galadriel Strauser and Luke Horton talked about

Where Entrepreneurs Can Find More Information
are reliable, and that can be great resources to help you in all your small business
ventures.
Perhaps the best source is the Small Business Administration. They can be found at www.sba.gov and have a wealth of infor-mation. Great articles and market trends can also be found at
www.entrepreneur.com. Finally, CETES recommends www.entre-ed.org. This website not only provides information about funding, but also areas for education and information about what
has worked in the past.
We all know that there is an infinite amount of information available on the world wide web, but the real question is, “What in-formation can be trusted?” CETES is here to help you answer that question, sort-ing through all that informa-
tion and assessing its quality.

Joe Podolinski, Director of Fayette-Washington KIZ, speaking at the
Block Party
You’ve all seen him around campus. You may have even had him for class. But for those of you who don’t know, this is our fear-less leader and Director of
CETES, Peter Eberle, MBA.
This article is the first in several that will out-line the CETES Leadership Team and what they con-tribute to our program. So sit back and enjoy the short biography of the man we
know as “Prof”.
Pete Eberle was born in New Jersey during the ruckus sixties. He was raised as a military brat, moving to a new country or state every three years. After high school, he earned an Associates degree in Automobile Mechanics and worked on British MGs. He
met his future wife while in college and she convinced him to earn a Bachelors degree in Business. How-ever, he had to start all over as no previous credits trans-ferred. While in college the second time, Prof. Eberle joined the Marine Reserves and worked his way through school taking interesting jobs and being a weekend warrior. After graduation, he began his corporate ca-reer as a claims adjuster in the Insurance industry. He was called up for active duty during the first Gulf War. While fulfilling his Marine obligations, working on his Insurance career, and start-ing a family, he managed to find time to complete his Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He worked several years in corporate
insurance litigation and as CEO for a marketing re-search firm. Professor Eberle and his wife have four kids and lots of pets at their home in the country. He is currently a faculty member at Penn State Fay-ette, The Eberly Campus, teaching Marketing and In-ternational Business courses. Prof. Eberle is also the founder and Director for CETES, the campus stu-dent business virtual incuba-tor. He can be reached at
[email protected]. So who will be in next month’s issue? You will just have to check back
and see.
CETES has started its’ own entrepreneurial re-source library in the Career Services office, located in room 106 of the Eberly Building. From trade maga-zines to informational publica-tions, you’ll find a vast assort-ment of information. The li-brary is a great place to start formulating your business plans, to keep up to date on current trends, or to learn about some of the country’s most success-
ful entrepreneurs.
Just stop in whenever the Career Services office is open and take a look at the materials. The shelves will be easily distinguished by the CETES library labels. All mate-rials must be replaced when finished, however if you need to take something with you,
just contact us.
A special thanks to Prof. Eberle for providing the
information.

What can nu do for you?
Luke Horton and Galadriel Strauser originally met when they had several classes together as students pursuing a degree in Busi-ness Management. Then, in the Spring 2008 semester, they both enrolled in Small Business Management with Mr. Bill Gardner, who also happens to be Assistant Director of CETES. As an assignment for the class, the two partnered to prepare a Business Plan. Over the
summer months, after the class was over, Galadriel's mind kept returning to the business plan and the two decided to actually launch Just Simply Clean, an office and construction cleaning company. According to Luke, "After we did all the
market research and hard work for the Business Plan, we realized there was no reason not to really do this." The two credit the guidance and availability of CETES advisors, even out-side of regular school hours, for helping them get the business rolling so quickly. More information about their business is available at
www.justsimplyclean.com.
