In the words of Pope Benedict XVI: “It is impossible to give a brief explana on of the wealth of this Gospel passage. One must read and meditate on it personally, iden fy-ing oneself with that women who, one day like so many other days, went to draw water from the well and found Jesus si ng next to it ‘ red from the journey’ in the midday heat”. (Angelus 2/24/2008).

Through medita ng on this passage you can open your heart so that the Holy Spirit can refill it with God’s love “like the Samaritan woman, let us also open our hearts to listen trus ngly to God’s Words in order to encounter Jesus who reveals his love to us and tells us: ‘I who speak to you am he’ (Jn 4:26) the Messiah, your Savior.

Wells are not meant to be used just once. Like the kitchen faucet, we go to them over and over, because our thirst for God is con nuous in this life. If we neglect that thirst, our spiritual life with shrivel up.
