Do you remember the last time we

were able to gather as a Community? I

asked myself that question when preparing

to write this bulletin column. I asked my

wife and she couldn’t remember the date

either, but could remember another event

that week which we had to cancel. Looking

back on my calendar, I finally decided that

it must have been March 15th

. Though I

couldn’t remember the date, I clearly

remember the feeling in my soul; No, this

can’t be happening, our Bishops won’t let

this happen, we must find a way for people

to receive the Eucharist, the world is in

terrible condition with daily Mass what

will it be like with no Masses?

Well, the reality is, the Mass was still

being celebrated daily (privately) but the

Sacrifice continued. I recently read an article

entitled; “What Video Masses Can Teach Us

About the Mass,” by Michael Pakaluk.

Though many of us may feel that the

“private Mass” recorded and shown on TV

just doesn’t seem right, it is no less licit than

when it is celebrated with full community

attendance. The article goes on to site two

times in Church History when this needed

to be clarified.

It is stunning (for those who

know Church history) that no one

has called into question the liceity of

“private Masses,” which continue to

be offered by our priests during the

lockdown. We all speak of “private

Masses” as if, of course, they must

be proper. And yet the Council of

Trent felt it necessary to say, “If

anyone says that Masses in which

the priest alone communicates

sacramentally are illicit and are

therefore to be abrogated, let him

be anathema.” (session 22, canon

8) (let him be excommunicated)

Or again, Pope Pius VI, in

1794, had to issue a Bull (Auctorem

Fide), condemning the error that

“there is something lacking to the

essence of the sacrifice in that sacrifice

which is performed either with no one

present, or with those present who

partake of the victim neither sacra-

mentally nor spiritually.”

Our fasting from the Eucharist has

been a trying sacrifice for all of us, but at

last we have finally come to a time where

we are allowed to reopen gradually. You

should have received a letter or by now

may have read in last week’s bulletin how

we are attempting to do this. For a couple

more weeks at least, you will still be

encouraged to pray with the Mass on TV.

Then after listening to the liturgy and praying

with the Priest and your family, you may

come to receive Jesus in the Eucharist.

This week as we celebrate the birth

of our Church at Pentecost, may this fast

from the Eucharist create an insatiable

hunger that brings the Holy Spirit to life in

each of us. And may that spirit cast all our

fears aside to be willing to go forth boldly

like the Apostles to preach the “Good

News” to all peoples; and use words when

necessary. This is the day the Lord has

made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!

Prayer for Graduates

As we know, any other year we would be attending graduation ceremonies and parties for those women and men graduating from 8th Grade, from high school, from tech schools, colleges and beyond. Let us remember them in prayer as they celebrate this milestone in their life. Congratulations Graduates!

Heavenly Father, surround those who are graduating with your grace. Bless them with hope so that they move into the future with eager and open hearts. Help them to put the knowledge, skills, and insight gained through their education to use for the good of all humankind. Inspire them to believe in the goodness of life even when faced with challenges and difficulties. As they commence with their lives, may they grow ever more grateful and wise. All of this we ask in the name of Jesus, your beloved Son. Amen.

Distribution of the Eucharist

Communion services will continue next weekend (June 6 & 7) in our half-step back toward Masses here within the diocese of Green Bay, which we hope to begin the week-end of June 13 & 14. More information will be coming on that soon.

Remember to watch Mass on TV or our You Tube channel first, then come and bring a mask with you. All are welcome.

Times are as follows:

Saturday: Holy Rosary and Ss. Peter & Paul (5:15 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.)

Sunday: St. Ann (8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.); Ss. Peter & Paul (10:00 a.m. – Noon); Holy Rosary (5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.)

Need to Talk?

Don’t be afraid to call any of us at the offices. While the offices are closed, staff will be checking their messages frequently and will be back in touch. Emergency situation? Contact Joe at (920)918.0903

YouTube Channel

Check out each of our websites and click on the Youtube link for a selection of Masses, Liturgy of the Word services, Stations of the Cross or recitations of the Rosary.

Cup O’Joe Podcast

There is a podcast link on Ss. Peter & Paul’s homepage (ssppkiel.org) which connects you directly to the audio version of a daily (M-F) Cup o’ Joe podcast. Joe reads the gospel for the day and a gives a brief reflection.

If you listen to podcasts on your phone, you can also subscribe to Cup o’ Joe through iTunes or Spotify.

Churches Open

If you are looking for a spiritual uplift, or simply desirous to be in a familiar space with the company of parishion-ers, our churches will be open on a rotating basis from 3-6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (Mon & Thurs: Ss. Peter & Paul; Tues & Fri: St. Ann; Wed: Holy Rosary). Previously, Holy Rosary was open on Saturdays and Ss. Peter & Paul on Sundays but because they will both now be open at those times for Communion Services, there will no longer be exposition and prayer time in the churches on those days.

Limit 10!!

Just a reminder – that if you come to pray in our churches when the Eucharist is exposed, we are still limited to only 10 people at a time in the worship space. If you come and see that there are 10 people already within the church,

please be patient and wait for someone to leave. Also, if you notice that others are waiting while you are still in prayer, please be courteous and allow others the chance to have that same prayer time. Thank you for honoring the constraints placed upon us during this time.

Cocktail Hour

As our communities begin to reopen, our last virtual cocktail hour of the pandemic will be held this coming Thursday, June 4, at 5:00 p.m. on Zoom Chat. Want to be a part of it?

Simply email Joe Zenk ([email protected]) and let him know. He will send you out an invitation. They last 40 minutes.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

Fr. Carl is still present for the Sacrament of Reconcilia-tion, should you desire to partake of that. He is at Holy Rosary on Wednesdays at 5:00 and Ss. Peter & Paul Sundays at 9:00 a.m.

Funeral

Please remember in your prayers Ken Klotz and his family. Ken’s funeral was on Wednesday. May he rest now with our risen Lord.

Rest in Peace

Please keep Tom Winkel in your prayers. Tom passed away on Tuesday, May 26. Please keep the Winkel family in your prayers during this time of grief. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

In Our Prayers

Prayers and sympathy are offered for the family of Kathy Hauch who was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, May 26. May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace and glory.

Women's Bible Study

During quarantine, a lot has stopped. But not our study group! Join us for community and conversation! We meet on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month at 8AM via zoom. We've got lots of new joiners, and you should be one of them! Our next study will be on Sunday, June 7. Reach out to Eileen ([email protected]) or Kim ([email protected]) for more information.

Mom’s Rock

SS. Peter & Paul’s Moms Rock Raffle that was originally planned to be drawn on Mother’s Day has been postponed until further notice. The custom made wooden rocking chair will find a good home, we’re just not sure when. Ticket sales will resume when we have a date that the drawing will take place.

Thank you!

Just wanted to drop you a personal note of thanks for the Lenten food drive check we received along with the gift cards. We are working hard to buy some product to fill in some of our gaps and purchase more and better meat items. Your congregation’s contribution will go a long way to helping us meet those needs.

The purchasing of meat products has become more chal-lenging lately. I'm hoping that will ease some as the meat processing plants come back on line. I was lucky enough to buy ahead before this went crazy so I have enough meat in the freezers to get through June and July with what I have on hand as long as don't exceed 75 house-holds. If we do, I'll figure out how to deal with it.

Please be sure to encourage referrals of those people in need of food, as we do have the capacity to help more people. The last two months we have helped 54 and 59 respectively.

Thanks again for your encouragement and support.

End of Year School Liturgy

Due to the pandemic closing our schools, the Divine Sav-ior Catholic School community was not able to celebrate their traditional end-of-year liturgy. However, on Wednesday, the teachers gathered with Mr. Zenk and Fr. Carl to celebrate with Dc. Dennis recording the liturgy.

If you wish to view this special Mass, here’ the link:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faJzngYpekc&feature=youtu.be

The school community will gather school work and sup-plies on Thursday, June 4.

The teachers and staff wish our parish communities a blessed and safe summer!

Help Celebrate Rosie Steiner's 90th Birthday

Rosie's family is planning a "drive-by" birthday celebra-tion on Sunday, May 31. The family would like to invite parishioners to participate in this special celebration. The lining up of vehicles will take place at W1805 Thede Road (go west on Thede Road near the Chilled Stein) at 12:45 pm. The parade will begin at 1 pm and proceed for .2 mile to Rosie's house. Signs optional, but vehicle horns are mandatory! Come join the fun!

We are still here to serve you, so please call or email if you need something. You can call the Holy Rosary parish office at 898-4884 or email Sue at [email protected]. Sue can also be reached at home at 898-4411 (leave a message). The SS. Peter & Paul parish office number is 894-3553 or email Kim at [email protected]. The St. Ann parish office is 894-3147 or email Laura at [email protected]. If there is no answer, please leave a message, as messages will be regularly checked.

Pastoral Leader Guidelines

Back in late February, the new pastoral leader guide-lines that Bishop Ricken created were put into our bulletin and a number of questions were raised by parishioners, both from our three linked parishes and from others around the diocese. Because of those questions, Bishop Ricken has decided to push back the implementation of those guidelines a year to July 1, 2021, rather than this July 1. In the meantime, he in-tends to have further conversation about what those guidelines will entail when they are instituted. More information will come when the document is finalized.

SCRIP

One way to help the parish financially is through your use of scrip. Scrip is gift cards from participating merchants to pay for your purchases. Holy Rosary has scrip available during banking hours at Premier Financial Credit Union in New Holstein. If you need something special or need a larger quantity, please call the parish office (898-4884) or email([email protected]) and let us know and we will make sure the credit union has it available.

Kim is in the SS. Peter & Paul office periodically each week specifically for scrip sales, usually Tuesday & Wednesday from 10—2. If anyone wants scrip, please send an email ([email protected]) or leave a message on the office phone (894-3553).

St. Ann Scrip will be available Thursdays from 10 a.m. until noon at the Parish Center. To place an order, call Jayne at 894-3904 or Julie at 898-5646. Thanks for your support.

Grab & Go Bags

All three parishes have bags of Grab & Go food for ANY families/couples/individuals in need. No ques-tions asked. Simply take what you need. Or grab one

for someone who might need it. If the supply runs low, we will restock. They include instant single serving foods, like mac & cheese, rice, mashed potatoes, oatmeal, fruit, granola bar, pudding. (items may vary) The bags can be found in the porch of the parish center at St. Ann, on the stairs of the rectory at Holy Rosary and in the two bins outside of the rectory office at Ss. Peter & Paul. Spread the word. Thank you to the generous donors who have contributed funds to make this possible for our community.

Bishop’s Appeal

Our life of faith in the church should focus on Christian gratitude, leading us to contribute our time, talent and financial resources to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bishop’s Appeal provides the foundation for enabling us to carry out these works of faith and service to others. Please prayerfully consider contributing to this year’s appeal. Each parish is short of their goal by about 10%.

Mass Intentions

All Mass intentions scheduled during the time of suspended Masses will be rescheduled. Thank you for your understanding.

Looking for a School?

We invite you to think about Divine Savior Catholic School! And to assist you with this choice, St. Ann Parish will award each of the first four students who register for Divine Savior School an $800 scholarship to assist with the cost of tuition. The only qualifica-tions? You must be present members of St. Ann parish and in good standing. Call Kerry Sievert (894-3533), the principal of Divine Savior, for a tour today and have some faith in your education!

Men of Christ

There’s still time to join the Men of Christ Brotherhood (MCB) in a Consecration to St. Joseph. The endeavor involves 33 days of reading and reflection. We are using Father Calloway’s book and format. It is im-portant to do the 20-30 minute reading and reflection every day as outlined in the book. This can be done individually or you can join our weekly virtual discus-sion group. If you would like to participate or you have questions, send them to menofchristbrother-hood@gmail or call John @ (920) 637-4495. Learn more by going to consecrationtostjoseph.org/.

We are beginning our group meetings 9 am on Satur-days via Zoom (subject to change). Contact John to get the Zoom link. We are tentatively planning on the Consecration immediately after one of the Masses on Fathers Day with a lunch afterward.
