Prayer Text Biblical Source & Quote Explanation

The angel Gabriel greets Mary with “Hail!” a title usually reserved for royalty. Then Gabriel calls her “favored one” and confirms God’s presence, His life of Grace and Love, within her.

“And coming to her, he said, “Haile, favored one! The Lord is with you.” Luke 1:28

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee.

Elizabeth’s word are inspired by God Himself, in the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity-the Holy Spirit. Therefore we can say that this greeting of admira-tion & blessings is pleasing to God & an appropriate way to address Mary. The fruit of Mary’s womb is her child, Jesus which Elizabeth alludes to.

Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus.

“Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said “most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.” Luke 1:42

This continued, Spirit-filled acclamation from Elizabeth show us that Mary is the mother not just of the human Jesus, but the Jesus who is the Son of God, the Sec-ond Person of the Trinity. Elizabeth & we, therefore rightly can Mary “holy” & the Mother of God.”

There’s no denying that we are all sin-ners, in need of constant prayer, as we approach death & Final Judgement. James tells the Christians to pray for one another, as they are all members of the mystical Body of Christ (1 Cor. 12). Mary is addressed as “favored” & “blessed”. The one who carried the Son of God in her womb. If we believe those in heaven truly have eternal life, then whom better to pray on our behalf then our blessed Mother Mary?

“Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful.” James 5:16

Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Knights of Columbus, Father Pierz Council is sponsoring the annual Country Breakfast at the Seven Dolors Parish Center, Albany, Sunday October 6. Cash raffle tickets are on sale now. The drawing will be held on our feast day, Nov 1st. We are selling 200 tickets at $100 each. Grand prize is $5,000. All Cluster Well- Read Mom’s Group In just eight years Well-Read Mom (WRM) has become a group of thousands of women in 40 states and 10 countries reading more and reading well… together. Come find out why so many women are discovering friendship and renewal through reading together. WRM is a way for women to reclaim time to read the best. The goal is to provide a way for women to read high-quality literature together and grow in friendship in the process. WRM groups read one book per month and meet to discuss once a month. Our year together includes great books, spiritual classics (during Advent and Lent), worthy reads, poetry and selected essays from the Catholic and Western traditions.
