Question 1

• In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products ?

• Form= How something is Presented or structured. I.e. Trailer, poster or magazine cover.

• Conventions= something that is typical of a type of media, audience expectations.

How We Kept To Conventions• We Tried to stick to some conventions of trailers. (I am

comparing ours to Super 8 trailer)

• In Both our trailer, The Case and the professional trailer of Super 8, we both have our film titles right at the end as this is the last thing the audience see.

How We Kept To Conventions

• Another way which our trailer stuck to conventions was that we used titles. Lots of teasers use titles – a form of conscious storytelling - a way of conveying narrative information to the audience.

• Like Super 8, our trailer is all about the government keeping something from the public. We both use short clips hinting that something bigger is happening. This is to intrigue the audience as they don’t know what is going on.

How We Stuck To Conventions

• Both our trailer and Super 8’s editing get quicker as the trailer goes on. This is done to build tension.

How Our Trailer Challenged Conventions

• Our trailer finished on long clip of feet walking. We wanted to do this as we wanted to finish our clip differently to many other trailers, as it would still in the mind of the audience. However many trailers speed up the editing as the trailer goes on, with the title being at the end like a climax point.

• Our trailer featured a rewind in the middle of it, this was done to add something new and different to the trailer to set it apart from others. Whereas other trailers would use the
