SCENE 1:Ross is not doing well in his calculus class, and he would like to change his major to psychology instead of engineering since he is doing well and really likes his Psych class, but he knows that his parents will not help him pay for college if he does not stick with engineering. Ross asks Phil to lie to his parents and tell them that his poor marks in calculus are not a big deal and that he is still on track, just until he figures out what to do about changing his major.

Scene 2:

Ross leaves Phil’s office, and Phil begins to mull over Ross’ request of deceit. Phil thinks about the potential repercussions that could come of him lying to parents, but then he also thinks of Ross’ desire to stay at Grantland, and his ultimate happiness that depends on his changing his major…Phil falls asleep as he is thinking and awakes to find some uninvited guests!
