The Blessing of Carmel Hill with a high-Mass at the Benedictine Abbey, Mission, BC September 11, 2012

In the process of obtaining the Charitable Status of Canadian Carmelite Charitable Society, the OCD Community received a vast green slope of 20 acre property at North Deroche Road, Fraser Valley close to the US border. This property is enhanced by a beautiful house of 2875 sq. ft. sur-rounded with lush green trees and plenty of open spaces with a huge barn.

The house was inaugurated as the Formation House during the solemn blessing of the property on September 11, 2012; the barn was temporar-ily converted into St. Helen Hall. A solemn Mass by Archbishop Miller was con-celebrated by many priests, mostly the Discalced Carmelites, at the Benedictine Abbey in Mission, BC.

The Foundation Stone for the Formation House was laid on the grounds of Carmel Hill on December 27th, 2012 in celebration of the 88th birth-day of the very kind benefactor and donor, Helen Chua Tiampo.

With all the possible hurdles overcome, the architectural plan and drawings of Carmel Hill eventually were registered and approved by the Fraser Valley Development Authority on April 17, 2014. The cost of this project was estimated at CAD $5 million.

On February 24, 2015, a ground-breaking ceremony was held at Carmel Hill to kick-off the construction of the Carmel Hill Little Flower Monas-tery / Formation House. To date, construction is almost at 50% completion.

Carmel Hill will be inaugurated and blessed on October 15, 2015 in celebration and in honor of the V Centennary of St. Teresa of Avila.
