In 1910, the first activities for Scouts were designed to build character, physical fitness, practical skills and service. ese elements were part of the original Cub Scout program and continue to be part of Cub Scout- ing today. At every meeting of Cub Scout Pack 51, the Scouts focus on one of Cub Scouting’s 12 core values, which are: citizenship, compassion, cooperation, courage, faith, health and fitness, honesty, perseverance, posi- tive attitude, resourcefulness, respect and responsibil- ity. Additionally, the Cub Scouts of Pack 51 strive everyday to live the Cub Scout Promise: To do my best, To do my duty to God and my country, To help other people, and To obey the Law of the Pack. In keeping the promise, the Cub Scouts of Pack 51 have helped on many service projects throughout the year. We’ve cleaned up the highway roadside and participated in the American Legion’s Memorial Day Program. During Minnesota Food Share Month, we held our annual Scouting for Food food drive and gath- ered over 2,000 pounds (a ton) of food for the local food pantry. Many of our Cub Scouts and leaders also assisted with church services on Scout Sunday. Beyond service, Pack 51 enjoyed many fun and educational activities throughout the year. is past year we’ve fished the Ol’ Mississippi from the Reno Dike and from the shores of Pettibone Lagoon. We even went ice fishing for trout at the Genoa National Fish Hatchery. e Cub Scouts marched in the Eitzen Fourth of July Parade, built and flew kites on National Kite Fly- ing Day, did an Owl Prowl and competed in the Great Pumpkin Race. We enjoyed a fall picnic and campout at Beaver Creek Valley State Park that featured listen- ing to a DNR Naturalist tell wildlife mythology stories around the campfire. e Scouts also learned about all the wildlife that the Coulee Region Humane Soci- ety cares for in addition to cats and dogs. Many of Pack 51’s Cub Scouts braved the haunted woods of Camp Decorah during the Halloween Spook-O-Ree campout. A contingent of Cubs took part in the Cub Hibernation-Robots and Machines overnight lock-in adventure at the La Crosse Chil- dren’s Museum this winter. A large group of Webelos Scouts attended Webelos Summer Camp at Camp Decorah and learned many new Scouting skills. is past January, the Cub Scouts carefully craſted cars from blocks of pine for the annual Pinewood Derby and competed in very exciting racing action. Caledonia Scouts endeavor to build on strong heritage

Since its origin, the Scouting program has been an educational experience concerned with values.
