MILTON James “Big Bubba” Newton is putting all the knowledge he gained during 25 years of BBQ competitions on dis- play at his new Milton restaurant, Big Bubba's Championship BBQ. The new restaurant opened earlier this sum- mer and features a variety of sauces that Big Bubba has carefully crafted over the years. “I really wanted to open a family restaurant where people could come and enjoy good food at a good price,” Big Bubba said. “Most of my dinners are $7 and my sandwich com- bos are $5 and that in- cludes your drink and chips. You can't eat at McDonald's or Wendy's for that price and here you are getting real qual- ity, freshly prepared food.” Big Bubba's menu fea- tures a variety of sand- wich combos including pulled pork, pulled beef, chicken breast, philly cheese steak, hot ham and cheese and a brisket sandwich. All of the meat is slowly seasoned in hickory smoke for up to 20 hours, SEE BBQ ON PAGE 3 BIG B UBBA SERVES UP CHAMPIONSHIP BBQ AT NEW MILTON RESTAURANT Big Bubba's Championship BBQ is now open in Milton, next to Tudor's and Go- Mart. It comes in waves - first thecollege kids head back toschool and pretty soon all kidswill be back in the normal rou-tine of school buses, lunchesand homework five days aweek. As you’re wondering howanother summer has flown by,USA.gov can help you be pre-pared with everything you andyour kids can be doing to en-sure a successful year at school:While your older kids think

they can handle everything col-lege throws at them, it’s impor-tant they remember not only totake their studies seriously, butto take care of their healthwhile they’re at school too. TheFood and Drug Administrationoffers free publications on arange of health issues for col-lege age students, includingunderstanding the dangers oftanning, and getting help withthe allergies and sleep disor-ders that can affect their stud-ies.For upperclassmen in high

school, there is a lot to consider

when thinking about college asthe next step. The U.S. Depart-ment of Education provides in-formation on how you can go tocollege, as well as ways to payfor it once you’ve chosen whereyou want to go.While financingcollege can be difficult, thereare many ways for students toreceive the education theywant if they are well prepared.Although it takes some time

for the younger kids to get backinto the swing of things and fi-nally sit down and do theirhomework, once they do, thereare many free resources onKids.gov to help them—and

you—with their homework andprojects. The Smithsonian Edu-cation site allows kids to ex-plore, discover and learnthrough all varieties of topicsincluding science, art and cul-ture. The Environmental Pro-tection Agency also offers aHomework Zone to help kidsunderstand ecosystems, cli-mate change, recycling andmany other science related

subjects. In addition to a great place to

find homework help, Kids.govalso offers a safe and fun placefor kids to play online gamesand explore their favorite sub-jects. Your kids can study, watch videos and review topicsall while you know they aredoing it in a safe and secure en-vironment with no ads orspam.

Velma’s ViewBy Velma Kitchens

DreamsAll of us have dreams of what we want for our future lives. When we are young, we dream of getting bigger and older then

we dream of the things in life that matter to us.I have found out that many people are not doing what they re-

ally love doing in their employment. While they still enjoy theirjobs and especially the jobs of helping others their true dreamsare not being fulfilled. Many people I know do ‘other things’ in their spare time that

they truly love doing. And had the choice, they would be doingthat, other than their current jobs.I know a lady who is a faithful and good worker in her job, but

she truly loves flower arranging and making pretty things forhomes. She once said she wished she could do that full time rather

than her present position. The one thing that stops us is themoney and fear. We are afraid to step out and lose the paycheck,(which we all need), and do that which we have dreamed aboutfor years.I was thinking about Joseph in the Bible. He had a dream. His

dream came true but he had many obstacles in his way. God usedJoseph for good to keep his family alive in famine and meet theirneeds. We should never give up on our dreams. Dreams can come

true.Keep on dreaming. It is God that put in your heart that thing

you love to do as long as it is right and true.(Editor’s Note: We hope that you enjoy Velma’s View and ask

Life at Rock BottomThought for the week: As far as the east is from thewest, so far hath

He removed our transgressions from us.Psalm 103:12 (KJV)As I sat onmy front porch one hot afternoon, a youngman carrying

a gas can came to visit. I’ve known him since he was a child. He waswearing shorts but no shirt, making the tattoo on his upper back vis-ible. In three-inch-tall letters it proclaimed “FORGIVEN.” I asked himwhat thismeant. “Is it some rock group?” I asked. He proceeded to tellme he had asked God to forgive him. His trials in life had includedtime in prison for using and selling drugs. He was sorry that he haddone wrong and had caused heartache to his mother and other fam-ily members, and was going to try to better his life.Since I live a distance from town, I offered to drive him to where he

could get the gas he needed. During that trip, I told him God createdhim and gave him one life which he could straighten out if he triedand trusted in God’s help. “I know,” he said, “but all my friends andfamily say I’mbad.”He lost his father to cancer at age ten andwas nowat rock bottom in life. He has a natural ability to cook and had a goodjob in thewesternU.S., where hewas involved in opening new restau-rants in an upscale popular family restaurant chain. He knows hecould always have a job cooking, but depression and drugs get in hisway. My advice was to go back out west, as far from the east coast as pos-

sible, and start a new life, asking God to be with him. He thanked meand said, “I’m not all bad. I would help you if you ever needed me.”He is only one young man. There are so many of our young people

out in this worldwith the attitude that briefmoment of drugs can help.Drugs result in addiction causingmore life damage, rather than help-ing.Please pray for those you know and others with this problem. God

is big. He can remove all of our transgressions.Prayer: God, somewhere this very minute is more than one young

person at rock bottom in life. Lead all of us who know You to praywhen they cross our paths and to have words and deeds to give themhope for the future... Amen.
