Intentional Discipleship: Transforming Members into Disciples
The Journey Begins
Our recent re-visioning discussions helped our Association clarify and narrow our mission statement to focus on two primary areas: “starting churches and strengthening churches”:
Middle District exists to start and strengthen churches that passionately care for people, bring honor to God, and impact their communities and the world with the transforming love of Jesus.
A number of initiatives are now in the hopper that will get us started on the journey of exploring and discover-ing the implications of re-visioning 2.0. “The Gathering”, that is advertised on page two in this edition of The Communicator, is an initiative we pray will encourage and strengthen church planters and also leaders of es-tablished churches. As you read the details, you can readily see why I say it will help both groups. “The Gathering” is a new ministry that helps us fulfill three of our re-visioning goals: • reaching out to encourage all church planters in our region • reaching beyond our current churches to all Southern Baptists in our region • reaching out to other evangelical congregations who share our values and core beliefs Join in praying that God will honor our attempts to follow where He is leading. The end of the re-visioning journey is nowhere in sight but at least we are taking this first step of faith.

The annual offering for Virginia missions provides funding for all WMUV missions and ministries and
makes possible other special ministries, outreach projects, and initiatives not funded through regular streams of giving (but uniquely connected to Vir-
ginia Baptists).
When you give to the Alma Hunt Offering for Vir-ginia Missions, you are equipping those who seek to share with others how God has set
them free to live and serve.

Church Building Finished –
Other Trips Ahead Our Middle District’s two teams arrived back home safe and sound from Panama. They were mission trips of a
lifetime and the team members are ready to return! Within a few weeks the church building that our team worked on with the
help of the Kuna leaders and others will be dedicated. An addition to the church will be solar paneling to provide lights - there is no electricity in the village. (This lighting will cost $4,000 and donations are now being received.)
Sports camps, medical mission trips, and now being planned for 2013. If you have an interest, contact the MDBA office.
