Transcript of The Buzz: December 2013
How will you make an
impact on your
community this holiday
season?
The spirit of giving and
service is all around us. Food
drives, coin drives, toy drives,
and the many other charitable
causes around us have made
this time of the year focused on
not only our relationships, but
also on our contributions to the
people in our community.
Hopefully your dues are out
of the way by now! If not,
please contact me
immediately. After all of that, it’s
time to focus on the future. The
Call To Convention has been
released and our Lieutenant
Governor Elections are next
month! Other things to think
about are how you will keep the
momentum going after the
break and for the rest of the year.
Service is at its peak this time of
the year, but service should
never stop, no matter how many
active members you have.
Remember, Division 21’s
newsletter is for the division. Help
out by contributing stories and
pictures form your events and
project! Show us what your club
as done and ask for support from
your fellow hive-mates.
Showcase your work in the
community and spread your
ideas! All you have to do is email
me!
I hope you have an amazing
year and stay KEYnected!
DIvision 21’s goals this year are to have all 13 clubs in their area have active status,
expand membership in the division, fundraise and increase awareness of Key Club
International and the Pacific Northwest District’s goals and projects, and have extensive
communication between all clubs regardless of distance.
However, our biggest goals are those stated by Key Club International:
To provide service, build character, and develop leadership.

A Word from the Board
Hi, Bumblebees! Thank you for those of you who came to the last
DCM! The project went really well with active participation and
cooperation of lovely Bumblebees. Guess what’s coming! DCON
registration and LTG election! DCON registration packet is out, and
if you want to run for the LTG, you should contact our current LTG,
Chester Pham. Also, make sure your club checks the DCON award
list. There are numerous awards that you can apply for, so the
executive board should work together to start working on some
awards. Secretaries, as always, please make sure that you’re
turning in the monthly report. Also, keep track of the hours of the
members, so you can send notices to inactive members and
encourage them to participate more. If your club is having officer
election soon, the secretary should check whether the candidates
have enough hours or not, and the officers should check that
they’re truly dedicated and active. To do this, registration packet
for the candidates would be a good idea. If you have any good
idea for community service project, DCM’s, or any other Key Club
activities, please let other Bumblebees know! Also, please don’t
hesitate to ask any questions. Happy Holiday, Bumblebees! :)

Hey Key Clubbers! I hope all of you are getting into the holiday
spirit now that December has rolled in! It was a pleasure to bond
with those of you who went to the November DCM! I loved being
able to do something for other kids, in other parts of the world,
with people who truly want to make a difference in their
communities! It was a very fun DCM, like always! Bee sure to
come to the December DCM this month for more service & fun!
Also, DCON 2014 Registration has been released! I REPEAT,
DCON 2014 Registration has been released! I'm so excited for
DCON 2014 this year! I encourage everyone to attend! It's an
unforgettable experience! In addition, next month, the
Lynnwood High School Key Club is hosting a Benefit Rummage
Sale for Clothes For Kids on January 18, 2014 from 10am - 4pm!
My club and I would love it if any one of you could donate to
the Rummage Sale or if you're interested, help out before or at
the actual event! Please contact me as soon as possible if you
are interested in helping with the Benefit Rummage Sale! All
Division 21 members are welcome, anything helps! I hope to
speak with all of you soon! Remember to dress warm this season
& continue to find ways to serve those in your communities!
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

Divisional Editor/Webmaster
Hey guys! If you’re not yet dead from hypothermia imposed
on by the recent weather, and you happen to be reading
this, then I have news for you: it’s only going to get colder!
That’s right you guys, having me act as a very impromptu
weatherman, this record-breaking cold is going down in the
books as the coldest year we’ve witnessed ever coming in
from the past decades! Thank global warming for this
phenomenon! Anyways, while you guys struggle to fight for
survival, I would like to announce that the DCM will be on
the 21st, so come and bring your Christmas joy! As well, Key
Club Lieutenant Elections are coming up NEXT month!
Don’t be afraid as trying something new won’t kill you,
whether you win or lose! So step up to that leadership
position and be a compassionate leader that will bring
about happiness, or be that tyrannical punk that imposes
despair (your choice). Happy Holidays (which is a really
catchy carol by the way)!

drive, blanket drive, etc. With cold
weather coming, it is time for us to help
others in our community through this cold
season.
Make Christmas cards for kids in hospitals.
Some kids won’t be able to spend
Christmas at home with their families, so
send them a thoughtful card to make their
day.
Make cards/send care packages to
soldiers. Show your appreciation for those
protecting our country by sending them
something for the holidays.
Presidents Presidents need to fill out this survey by
the 5th of every month to provide a

What’s Your Level in
Service?
I hope you answered “Over 9000!” But
anyways, the Call to Convention has
been released! They have been sent
to all officer and advisors. Please read
all of the details because there are
many changes this year. Feel free to
ask me any questions! This section on
DCON will be up for the remaining
issues of “The Buzz” and will be
updated each month to help you and
your club prepare! Read through all of
the sections and plan ahead! There
are club awards and contests to

running for a District Executive Position,
please let me know!
DCON Q&A
Have a question about
DCON?
Ask me and have your
questions in this box for the
next newsletter! This will help
all of our clubs prepare for
this huge event.
What Is DCON? DCON is a celebration of our amazing year of service. It is a time for all Key
Clubbers from across the district to come together to celebrate the long
hours of service, create memories, have the opportunity to learn something
new, and most of all, have fun! You will vote for the next District Executive
Board, prepare for the next year, and celebrate what you have
accomplished this year. Also, this year, we are honored to have special
guest Joseph Vincent perform!
The Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program, KCCP, in support of Kiwanis Doernbecher Children’s
Cancer Program in Portland OR., Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program in Seattle WA., and the
Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program in British Columbia and the Yukon, will raise money and
awareness to fight and find the cure for children’s cancer.
The KCCP was founded by Past PNW Kiwanis Governor Frank Morehouse in 2010. His inspiration
was a young cancer patient named Penny. Morehouse worked at the hospital where Penny
stayed. Penny was diagnosed with a brain tumor and required surgery and radiation therapy.
Penny visited Morehouse during her hospital stays and talked about what was happening to her.
Sadly, Penny eventually lost her battle with cancer.
The KCCP is a long term project that will hopefully expand to a global program. Children’s
cancer affects many families. Thousands of children are diagnosed with cancer each year, and
with the help of research, their chances of surviving have more than tripled. KCCP hopes to be
a part of finding a cure.
“The Pacific Northwest is the beginning. The world is our goal.”
