THE PREPARATION OF GOD’S PEOPLE
PRELUDE
WELCOME - ANNOUNCEMENTS Carrie Pannell
* CONGREGATIONAL INTROIT We All Are One in Mission
We all are one in mission; we all are one in call,
our varied gifts united by Christ, the Lord of all.
A single, great commission compels us from above
to plan and work together that all may know Christ’s love.
* CALL TO WORSHIP
One: In Christ, we have access to a new community.
All: Those who were far off have been brought near
by the blood of Christ.
One: Because Christ has broken down the diving walls, we are one.
All: Christ is our peace.
One: Through Christ, we have access to God by the Spirit.
All: Therefore, we are no longer strangers,
but citizens and part of God’s family.
One: Together, let us rejoice! Let us worship God!
* HYMN 372 O for a World AZMON
* CALL TO CONFESSION
One: We come seeking reconciliation and peace.
We come to experience forgiveness.
In faithful witness to your grace, O God, we confess our sins before you and one another.
Let us pray.
* PRAYER OF CONFESSION
All: O God, universal architect,
you created the church to be a community,
a family with many members,
working in unity under the control of its head, Jesus Christ.
Forgive us if we have treated other persons
as if they did not matter.
Forgive us for discriminating against others
and giving some persons higher recognition,
while rejecting others from your community, from the family.
We have held back, not sharing our resources and gifts
with those whom we consider different.
Forgive us, we pray, through Jesus Christ,
who receives all persons and has made us citizens
and also members of God’s family, in whose name we pray...
* SILENT CONFESSION
* ASSURANCE OF PARDON
One: Amen. Sisters and brothers, let us work for the good of all and for those in the family of faith.
Believe the good news of the Gospel: In Christ we are forgiven!
All: Thanks be to God for his great gift of love!
Large print Bulletins and Hearing Amplification Devices are available.
Nursery provided for infants through 2-year-old children.
* CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE - Gloria Patri #581
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in
the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.
THE PROCLAMATION OF GOD’S WORD
A TIME FOR ALL GOD’S CHILDREN Dr. Bailey
(Following this, children ages 3, 4, and 5 may leave for Children’s Church)
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
All: God of all history, thank you for the Bible.
Through your Word we learn that you love your people dearly,
and we learn that we are your people.
Thank you for your Word shaping our identity.
Thank you for your Word that gives us hope for the future.
As your Word is read and preached,
send your Spirit so that we can know
our role in your ongoing work in our world. Amen.
