Even a Snowstorm Couldn’t Stop HMS’s
“The Little Mermaid”
By, Sam Lee
Even though there was a snowstorm preventing one showing of the musical, the cast and crew still performed, shaking it off saying “the show must go on!” After two important showings were cancelled due to the snowstorm, they were rescheduled. The show itself was phenomenal, staring Rose Charinski as Ariel, Emmett Kositch as Sebastian, Will Chaffee as Prince Eric, and Kate Mikida as Flounder. You had to love them all, even the main villain, Ursula portrayed excellently by Layla Lewis due to her great singing and acting. All the other supporting characters sparkled! The stage and props were amazing as was all the work by the parents and stage crew. This was, all in all, was an excellent play. The entire cast and crew should be proud! I give it 5 stars.

Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction are correct only 39 percent of the time, that's much, much
worse than a climatological prediction.

February DIY’s By Charlotte Bako
Valentine’s Day Lapel Pins
Source: https://www.diynetwork.com/made-and-remade/make-it/valentine-s-day-lapel-pins
Materials:
Craft felt sheets
Fast-grab tacky glue
Scissors
Lapel stick pin or tie tack blanks
Directions:
1. To make a rose, start out by cutting a strip from the felt that's about 1" wide and 10" long. Cut a wave-like pattern into the felt strip.
2. Next, apply a thin layer of tacky glue to the straight side of the felt. 3. Create the rose shape by carefully rolling the felt up. Pinch the rolled-up shape together
to make sure the glue has bonded to the felt. Let dry. 4. For a heart decoration, simply fold a piece of craft felt in half and cut out one half of a
heart shape. Add additional smaller hearts if you like. 5. Your felt creations can be added to lapel stick and tie tack blanks simply by apply a
layer of strong tacky glue to the blank surface. Add your decoration on top of the blank, holding in place for a few minutes to create a strong bond once again. Let the accessories dry completely.
Floral Heart Wreaths
Source: http://www.designimprovised.com/2015/01/diy-floral-hearts.html?m=1
Materials:
5-6 small bunches of artificial flowers
Grapevine wreath form
Wire cutters
Hot glue gun
Directions:
1. Use a wire cutter to clip the flowers from their stems, leaving a good inch of the stem left.
2. Slot your flowers into the grapevine wreath form. You could stick yours in without glue in case you
want to easily swap them out and use the wreath for something else later on. However, if you want the
flowers to stay more permanently, add a dab of hot glue to the stem before sticking it into the form.
3. Work your way around the wreath form. You can use 3 different types of pink flowers for this wreath,
and scattered them randomly around the wreath, making sure not to leave any gaps between flowers.

Homemade Valentine’s Day Bath Bombs
Source; https://www.attagirlsays.com/homemade-bath-bombs-hearts/
Materials:
Baking soda
Citric acid
Fine epsom salts
Jojoba oil
Love potion essential oil
Red food coloring
Witch hazel
Mesh strainer
Spray bottle
Silicone heart mold
Plastic gloves
Directions:
1. Place a mesh strainer over a large bowl and pour in 1 cup of baking soda, 1/2 cup citric acid and 1/4 cup
of fine epsom salts. Sift to remove any lumps. If you’re unable to find fine epsom salt, put it in a food
processor or blender and pulse until fine.
2. Stir baking soda, citric acid and epsom salts until well blended, making sure there are no lumps.
3. Next, slowly add 1/2 Tablespoon of jojoba oil to the dry mixture. Add 10 drops of Love Potion essential
oil and 1-2 drops of food coloring.
4. Wearing plastic gloves, mix the oils and food coloring through the dry mixture, until it is well
incorporated and pink.
5. Once mixture is blended, slowly add witch hazel, one spritz at a time, until the bath bomb mixture sticks
together when squeezed.
6. You’ll need about 8 to 10 spritzes of witch hazel to get the right consistency. The mixture should not be
crumbly. It should stick together when squeezed, but you don’t want it too wet or it may begin to fizz.
7. Pack the slightly damp mixture tightly into the heart shape molds. Be sure to pack the mixture well,
fitting in as much as possible into each mold. (This recipe should make 5 to 6 heart-shaped bath bombs.)
8. Allow to dry for several hours, or ideally overnight, then remove the homemade bath bombs from the
molds.
9. They should be very hard when you remove them from the molds. Wrap bath bombs tightly in plastic
wrap and store in a cool, dry place, away from any moisture.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Anne Frank was born in She was a Jewish girl who died in World War Ⅱ

“Anne Frank’s Diary.” They got food by a friend going shopping for them and bringing food
for them. When they left their home, they had to leave their cat and only bring a few
possessions. Since they couldn’t make a scene, they had to put on a many clothes a possible and
carry only one suitcase with them. There is a museum in Holland which is in the place where
she hid behind the bookcase. In about the first year, she had to share her room with a friend.
Keep in mind that she was your age when she went into hiding. Her story lives on today.

AMERICAN FREEDOM TRAIN
By Andrew Henry
500 pieces of Americana on one train.
The United States had 2 Freedom Trains. The first one was in the late 1940s
pulled by one ALCo PA 1 locomotive (diesel choo- choo train). It pulled 10 cars filled
with famous Americana. It was to celebrate liberty after World War 2. The train left
Philadelphia, Pa on September 17, 1947. It pulled the 10 car train into Buffalo, NY on
November 7, 1947. The tour of the train ended on January 22, 1949. 3.5 million People
visited the train in 322 cities.
However, in Birmingham, AL the train was criticized for letting blacks and whites
stand in the same line and being on the train at the same time.
12
The American Freedom Train was a train that carried American artifacts in 1947-49 &
1975-76.
In 1975 the train was revived with 3 steam locomotives (Southern Pacific 4449,
Reading 2101, and Texas & Pacific 610). This Freedom Train was for America’s
Bicentennial. The train now consisted of 26 train cars with more display cars and
concession stands. The train left Wilmington, DE on April 1st, 1975. It toured the U.S.
with engine 4449 on the west coast, engine 2101 on the east coast, and engine 610 in
Texas.
Southern Pacific 4449
13
It was built in 1941 for Southern Pacific and donated to an amusement park in
Portland in 1958. It was rescued from the park in 1974 and restored for the Freedom
Train. In 2002, after the September 11th attacks, 4449 was returned to her Freedom
Train scheme. It returned to its original paint scheme in 2004.
Reading T1 2101
It was built in 1945 for the Reading Railroad.
In the early 1970s it was rescued from a scrapyard and restored to the Freedom Train.
It toured on the east coast with the train until the end. 2101 pulled another train after
the Freedom Train and was damaged in a roundhouse fire. Now displayed in
Baltimore, MD.

‘Glass’ Review
By Carter Sireika
Plot
This movie’s plot is all over the place. It's a little hard to explain but I'll try.
David Dunn is still a vigilante fighting crime with his super strength. When he
finds a kidnapper named Kevin with a personality disorder. he tries to take him
down but Kevin’s beast mode is too strong for him. They are found and taken to a mental asylum.
David finds his old friend Elaga Prince, but they call him Mr. Glass because his bones break
easily. A psychiatrist tells them the possibilities that they are not superheroes. David wonders if
he really is a normal human, while all of Kevin's identities and Mr. Glass still believe they have
powers. That's not all of the plot because I cannot give it all away.
Acting
This movie is filled with great actors like Bruce Willis, Samuel L Jackson, and James McAvoy.
They all have talent and they did great as the superheroes. There is nothing wrong with the acting
in this film. It was amazing.
CGI
This movie lacked much CGI, but the CGI present was awesome. The veins you see on the Beast
were so cool. That was the best CGI.
Music
I never really paid attention to the music in this movie because you had to pay attention to the
plot. I liked the horror movie feel of the music. It really played well in the suspenseful scenes.
Pacing
The pacing is very uneven in this movie. The first act was fine, but the second lacked action. The
third act was choppy until the final battle.
Verdict
‘Glass’ may be an uneven film but it’s cool how they combine the two worlds of Split and
Unbreakable. The ending is really shocking and the movie is entertaining. If you want to watch
this movie, I recommend you watch ‘Unbreakable’ and ‘Split’ first or else nothing in this movie
will make sense. The film is full of violence, so if you don't like that this movie is not for you.
If you saw the first two movies you will enjoy this film.
This movie gets an 8/10 which is great.

Forza Horizon 4 Review By Bryson Schwab
I have been playing Forza Horizon 4 for about a month now, and let me say that
it’s a beautiful game! It’s only made for the Xbox One console, so sorry to all the
PlayStation users.
The graphics are insane, the gameplay is smooth, and overall it is a good game if
you like racing. If you played the demo before you play the actual game, you get a free
McLaren Senna to download on the full version. The McLaren Senna is the best
handling car in the game. There are many different expansions like Fortune Island,
Best of Bond car pack, Formula Drift car pack, Car Pass, and a new expansion coming
soon!
Fortune Island is an extra map to explore, instead of staying on the main island.
The Best of Bond car pack offers cars that are from the famous James Bond movies.
The Formula Drift car pack has many cars from the Formula Drift pro drivers.
The Car Pass brings you two free cars every day with no expense in-game that
started on October 2, 2018 and ends on February 26, 2019. If you purchase this pack
after October 2, you will receive all cars from the previous weeks.
It has many different options for when it comes to customizing your car. You
can upgrade almost any feature on your car, change the paint, make a new design, or
choose one that other people have already made. You can give your car a wide body
kit, change the rims, put a wing on it, and tune it to your liking. There is also this
feature of getting a wheel spin where you can win clothes, horns, and cars! You can
also get a super wheel spin which is basically three wheels pins in one. There are also
many different races and other things you can do in Forza Horizon 4. You can race on
the street, off-road, cross-country, and online with friends. Overall, I would give this
game 5 out of 5 stars.

The Life of None
By Alissa
Chapter 5 Mr. Carnright and his Son
Hi, I am Alissa, and am going to narrate this book since the author just dramatically told
us that he/she quit. It really was dramatic. Well anyway, we started walking through the
orchard, and then the marshes. Then, we met a Pegasus named Maximus, who flew us to King
Ka Ⅱ’s pond.
We said “Thank you,” and went up the stone walkway to a little house. It was beige, and
made of brick, and had a red door that was a deep red, but not dark enough as to where it could
be described as maroon. It had no garage, but a stable next to the house with 3 black horses. The
house also had a red roof to match the door. Altogether, it looked as if it could have come
straight out of a fairytale. (Beside the stable, that could have come out of a Percy Jackson
book.) So, I knocked. I had just realized that there were only three windows on the east side of
the house, where we were standing. I have always wanted to be an architect and to my
architectural mind, this was an odd built structure; definitely not modern.
Almost immediately, a boy about my age answered the door. He had straw colored hair
and dark brown eyes. “Hi,” he said. “Who are you? I am Lui Carnright.”
“Hi, I am Alissa, and these are my brothers Emile and Marco.” I responded. “We were
sent here by Amelia, who lives in Baybara.” Then, a man called out in a deep voice from inside
the house.
“Who is it Lui?”
“Alissa and her brothers, they seem to be sent from Amelia.” Lui called back. The man
came over to the front door, and gasped.
“The prophecy children. Please come in.” He led us to a table, which was presumably
inside the kitchen. There was an old fashioned oven with a smoke pipe coming out of it, an 8
foot long table, and an island in the middle. On the wall there lay neatly all different types of
ladles and cooking spoons. Under the island there was an assortment of different stainless steel
shelves, and wooden cupboards.
“Hi, I am Alex Carnright and this is my son Lui Carnright. My wife; Abigale Carnright is
visiting a friend of hers,” Mr. Carnright proclaimed. “So, you shall be on your way now I
suppose, or if you’d like, you can stay here for the night.” said Mr. Carnright.
“What shall you choose? What shall you choose?” Chanted some familiar voices.
“Ugh, not you again!” groaned Emile.
“Well, you said not to scare you, so we now talk in unison,” they responded.
“I think we will stay till the next day.” I decided.
“Just to keep you quiet for 20 hours!” added Emile.
“Yeah!!!” shouted Marco.

Pretty Little Psychos By A.J Golden & Rosebud D.
Luna and I drive up to this house in the woods. It looked like termites holding
hands. Basically, it looks like it is going to fall. But it looked ok for the night. So
we get out of the car. A girl, maybe my age, walks out. She comes toward me and
Luna.( I’ll leave the narrating to you)
Girl: Who are you and what are you doing here?
(She is holding a knife, I might add)
Me (Alex) My name is Alex. Alex Winter. Who are you?
Girl: No.Way.
Alex: What?
Girl: It’s me Elly! Elly Treestock!
BOTH GIRLS IN UNISON: No.Way!
Luna: Huh? Did I miss something?
Elly and Luna stare at each other. A flash of light roars across the sky. Tearing it
apart from east to west. All meta´s know what this means. They are sisters. Luna
has a black eye and Elly has a white one. They symbolize balance.
Both Elly and Luna: OH MY …
Alex: What the heck? This is CRAZY!
Elly: Were sisters!
Alex: No, really??
Elly: Very funny
Alex: I thought it was….
Luna: Cool.
Alex: Wow. The things that happen around here.
Luna: Yup.

Elly Of the Elements
By Rosebud D.
Elly was a young sweet girl. She loved playing with her twin and best
friend. One day, Elly explored the woods for the first time when she was
young. All she remembered were flashing lights. A few days later on her
11th birthday a big metal truck came. All she remembered was her parents
saying it was for the best...they ended up taking her to a prison where a
bunch of other teens and children were.
She never found her sister or her friend. She was put in ward 100,001
or for short, ‘Ward Red.’ She was given the name Element Elly and didn't
know why ‘til the tests were completed. The tests were administered to
find hidden powers. The guards said they already knew mine. Remember
the flashing lights from the woods? That was a warning… no one’s power
is alike… they called us the Meda Humans or for short MEDA’S.
I ran off with some other children who wanted out. They only took
me because I was in ‘Ward Red.’ When we escaped, I went to my
grandfather's old shack in the woods. It took me 5 days to get there .One
other kid went with me. He actually helped me gather water and other
things to survive. Later, I learned his
name was Eijle.

Sports
NBA
By Vonn Dudek
The NBA has become a shooting game, just like the MLB has become a home run game. The most 3 pointers attempted per game is 44.4 by the Houston Rockets; that is up 20.4 per game since 2006-07 season when the Golden State Warriors shot 24.0 a game. The team who shoots the least this year, the LA Clippers, shoots 24.7, .7 more a game than the leader in Threes attempted in the 2006-07 season! Assists per game has gone up 3.7 between the leaders; the Warriors in 18-19 and the Suns in 06-07. The Warriors average 29.6 assists per game and the Suns averaged 25.9 per game. Points per game have also gone up by 8.9 points; again with the 06-07 Suns and 18-19 Warriors leading the NBA. The New York Knicks are bad, really bad. Since Wednesday December 19, the Knicks have gone 1-19, traded injured star player Kristaps Porzingis to the Mavericks along with their leading scorer and two other players! However, the Knicks will have 71 Million Dollars in Salary cap space this summer, so they might get a superstar like Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving. Meanwhile a star is being born in Dallas. Luka Doncic is a rookie from Slovenia who is making his mark on the NBA. Doncic averages 20.7 points a game, 7 rebounds and 5.4 assists a game.
Top 10 Players in the NBA
10. Blake Griffin. 26.1 PPG, 5.4 APG, 8.1 RPG
This guy is one of the best players in the league, but doesn’t get recognized for it. Griffin is above his career averages in points and assists.
22
9. Paul George. 28.0 PPG, 4.0 APG, 7.9 RPG
George is having the best season of his career, with all of his stats above his career averages!
8. Kyrie Irving. 23.8 PPG, 7.0 APG, 4.9 RPG
The 6’3’’, 193 lbs. guard has a lot to play for with all of controversy of where he will be playing next season. In a press conference Irving said “Ask me on July 1st” taking back his earlier statement in October saying he would be playing with the Celtics next year. Despite that, Irving is playing great basketball.
7. Kevin Durant 27.4 PPG, 6.0 APG, 7.1 RPG
Come on, if I didn’t put one Warrior in here, I would have gotten some serious feedback. Durant is having one of his best seasons with better averages in assists and points.
6. Joel Embiid. 27.4 PPG, 3.6 APG, 13.5 RPG
The third year player from Cameroon is having a great season, with every stat above his career average. He and Ben Simmons have given the 76ers a great team. Also this season, the Sixers have traded for Tobias Harris and Jimmy Butler. I think the Eastern Conference championship will be 76ers vs Bucks.
5. Russell Westbrook. 21.2 PPG, 11.2 APG, 11.1 RPG
In my opinion, this guy is one of the best players in the NBA. He is the second player in NBA history to average a Triple-Double, since Oscar Robertson did in the 1961-62 season. Amazing!
23
4. LeBron James. 27.0 PPG, 7.4 APG, 8.5 RPG
I know, I am going to get feedback. You’ll say “Best player to ever take the court Lebron.” Not this year! There are guys like Harden and Davis who are better. LeBron is still having an amazing year despite his injury.
3. Giannis Antetokounmpo 26.7 PPG, 5.9 APG, 12.4 RPG
They call this kid the Greek Freak and for a good reason: Giannis is tearing up the league with his amazing dunks and blocks. This kid is legit. The Bucks are 1st in the league and Giannis has really been their MVP.
2. Anthony Davis 29.3 PPG, 4.4 APG, 13.3 RPG
Davis requested a trade but didn’t get it. People are saying that is a dirty thing to do and it is, but Davis has carried the team throughout the six years he has played in New Orleans. During that span, the Pelicans have only made the playoffs twice. Even though his team is not great, Davis has over career averages in every category.
1. James Harden 36.5 PPG, 7.9 APG,
6.8 RPG
Harden is having the best season since Wilt Chamberlain in 1961-62 when he averaged 50.4 PPG (Wow!) and 25.7 RPG, but Harden this year is playing amazing ball with only 3 games under 20 points. 3 games! That’s 48 out of 51 games, that’s 941% of the games. He is not a ball hog either, with 7.9 assists per game, best player in the NBA, no question.
