Summer is a wonderful time for many college students to come home to work a summer job or relax from their hard school work. In the college ministry, we believe that summer is a critical time for students to be plugged into the church. When they are afforded the opportunity to participate in an intentional Christ-centered community over the summer, students often experience incredible spiritual growth that has an impact on their college experience and life.

The college ministry focuses on being a source of this growth for both BYG graduating seniors and current college students who are home at Briarwood for the summer.

One of the ways the college staff and interns help shepherd our college students is through intentionally investing in their lives and helping them connect with the College Ministry as well as other students. We also encourage spiritual growth through our weekly meetings, events, and small groups. One student said, “At the beginning of the summer, transitioning from BYG seemed overwhelming to me as I was about to move into the college ministry. But as the summer has gone on, I have found both the staff and other students to be so welcoming. I have so enjoyed the Bible studies and Tuesday night gatherings!”

If you are the parent of a college student or know one who is not plugged in, we would love for you to encourage them to come to a summer event—College Sunday School, which includes fellowship and training, meets every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in A201; and our weekly Tuesday dinner gathering from 7:00–9:00 p.m. at The Barn through Aug. 7. Or reach out to one of our staff members or interns and we will reach out to them! Please contact me at 776-5302 or [email protected], or our interns, Daniel Johnston at 218-3191 and Lauren Carrick at 859-537-7192.
