Transcript of The Boy and The Stray Dog
By Kyle Ekstrom
There was a boy named Billy who was 11 years old, and lived in a small country town. Billy loved animals and his favourite animal was a dog.
Billy’s dog was a Fox Terrier who’s fur was as white as snow, and that’s why he called him Snowy.
One day Billy went into the backyard which he used to say “ was as large as a football field” to try to find Snowy so he could give him his dinner. But he was nowhere to be found.
Billy noticed that there was a large hole dug underneath the wire fence, which led out to the open green paddock. He sat on the ground and cried and cried.
Billy searched for Snowy until the sun set over the green grassy paddocks every day for months. His mum and dad told him that Snowy will not come
home now. Billy was very upset and he was sad for a long time.
On a sunny Friday afternoon, Billy’s dad was driving home from work, when he saw a Golden Retriever dog
lying by the side of the road. His paws were bloody and his fur muddy.
He put him in the car and brought him home for Billy as he thought this would heal his sons broken heart.
Before Billy arrived home from school his dad washed and brushed the dog.
Billy went into the backyard when he arrived home and saw the dog. Billy had a huge smile on his little face. He ran to this mum and dad and hugged them.
Billy called him “Rusty” as his fur was a light brown colour. Rusty and Billy played together everyday in the large paddocks and they were never apart.
Billy was now a very happy boy again and they had many great adventures together. They loved to go swimming in the creek and for long walks.
Billy’s mum and dad could see how happy he was and Billy always thanked them for bringing Rusty to him and fixing his broken heart.
