Law Offices of James O. Gaston
The Law Offices of James O. Gaston is a boutique law firm that specializes in personal injury, medical malpractice, motor vehicle crashes, nursing home abuse, wrongful death and premise liability. A significant number of cases are referred by both attorneys and satisfied clients. Consequently, the firm is highly selective in its representation and focuses on the neediest individuals.
Attorney Gaston has amassed a formidable trial record over the past thirty-three years with some juries awarding even larger sums than those requested at trial. Gaston has been Board Certified in Civil Trial Advocacy since 1990. He sits on the Board of Governors and House of Delegates of the Connecticut Bar Association, and Chaired the Litigation Selection of the CBA. He is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. He is also a Life Fellow for the James W. Cooper Fellows Program of the Connecticut Bar Foundation and has written and lectured extensively on trial practices. In addition, he sits on the Board of Governors for the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. Named “SuperLawyer” in Connecticut Magazine 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.”

THANK YOUto the Newtown Hook & Ladder Co.
203-426-1299www.oakstreetdesign.com | [email protected]
Thank you for your support of the 2017 Newtown Hook and Ladder Firehouse Ride.
Newtown Hook and Ladder Co. #1 is located at 12 Church Hill Road, Newtown, Connecticut, in Northern Fairfield County. We serve a population of approximately 27,000 residents, covering almost 64 square miles. Newtown Hook and Ladder, one of five independent fire companies in town, provides fire protection and advanced rescue to the town of Newtown. We are the oldest fire department in the town, with our beginnings in the early 1800’s. In 1883, a state charter was granted and our first apparatus was purchased.
We are an all-volunteer fire department with approximately 40 active members and a dozen Life Members. Our extremely dedicated department personnel are from all walks of life – from students to corporate leaders – all concerned residents of the community, just like you. NH&L responds to nearly 600 calls per year with pride and devotion to those in need.
The members of Newtown Hook & Ladder are extremely grateful for your continued financial support of our organization. As a 100% volunteer and non-profit fire company, we rely on donations like yours to continually offset the costs needed to update equipment and pay the building’s mortgage. In 2016 we completed our new facility allowing us to better serve the community and operate out of efficient, up to date conditions. We still have many costs to incur as we acclimate and outfit our new home which drives the necessity to fundraise and solicit financial support. The annual Firehouse Ride is our most successful fundraiser thanks to the support of contributions like yours. Please note that we are a 501c3 organization and your generous donation to our cause is tax deductible. The Mutual Aid campaign is continually progressing to up fit the interior of the firehouse. Please feel free to take a tour of the kitchen, day room, and museum and learn more about the ways to donate in that capacity. The training room and day room are some of our most important initiatives still needing funds. Again, a sincere thank you to all of the generous donors who help make Newtown Hook & Ladder such a successful and professional fire company. This year we would especially like to thank Smokey Mountain Chew, The Law Offices of James O. Gaston, The Borough of Newtown, The Gopher Road Guys, Oak Street Design & Construction, The Pendergast Family, JP Maguire, Durkin Tents, Newtown Savings Bank and the many other loyal supporters taking out ad space in this book. Our gratitude is endless.
Sincerely,
The Members of Newtown Hook and Ladder Co. #1Volunteer First Responders

OUR NEW HOMEOUR HISTORY
OUR HISTORYThe oldest fire company in Newtown had
its beginning in 1803, when the town
refused to grant a request for $100 for a fire
engine. Elijah Nichols was subsequently
appointed as “chimney viewer” or fire
warden, an office that was provided for at
the annual town meeting and for which no
pay was given. Since the town would not
appropriate the money for an engine, each
member of the company was duty bound
to provide buckets and ladders of their
own. The company held many benefits to
raise money and in 1883 a sum of $600
was appropriated for the purchase of a
hand-drawn Hook & Ladder truck from
the Holloway Company of Baltimore. In
September of that year, a State Charter
was granted to the “Newtown Hook &
Ladder Company,” and the company has
been in service ever since.
TODAYAfter a long and anticipated project,
we are excited to off the new home of
the Newtown Hook and Ladder Fire
Department. The new 16,000 square foot
fire house is the result of an idea that
began over 30 years ago, and we’re proud
to continue serving the town of Newtown
with this beautiful new facility. Many
thanks and our deepest appreciation goes
to all of you who have supported us every
step of the way.
