The Book of Nahum Part 8 “Shaking by a Mighty Wind”

We ended last week with verse seven where our despicable spiritual condition has been made known and we have become a gazing stock.

Nah 3:6 And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazingstock. Nah 3:7 And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?

When we see our despicable spiritual condition, we flee to the mountains to hide out and try to escape the wrath that has befallen our old man and carnal way of life. Everything we knew or thought we knew is turned on its head in this ongoing “is, was and will be” process until we come to the mature man in Christ. The mighty wind, the Spirit of God, is sweeping across the face of the earth and its waters (Gen 1:2-3) as “light is called out of darkness”.

Rev 6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. Rev 6:14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. Rev 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

We saw the call to “stand stand” and repent of our wicked ways in Nahum 2:8 but we are not standing at first. We flee to the safety of the crowd but the Lord searches us out.

Jer 46:20 Egypt is like a very fair heifer, but destruction cometh; it cometh out of the north. Jer 46:21 Also her hired men are in the midst of her like fatted bullocks; for they also are turned back, and are fled away together: they did not stand, because the day of their calamity was come upon them, and the time of their visitation.

The words of Nahum speak of the same judgment, the same process by which Jesus Christ is revealed in us. The end of the old and ushering in of the new comes with this war and it comes by a flood of lies and false words that come against the house we first build on the sand of our self-righteousness when we hear but do not do the Word.

Luk 6:49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

Yet thankfully the Lord comes the second time and the day of the Lord is at hand and judgment is now on the house of God. It is vengeance for His Temple (1 Pet 4:17, 1 Cor 3:16). Here are the verses for today which will allow us to finish the Nahum study in nine installments and render a conclusion of the entire book next week Lord willing.

Nah 3:8 Art thou better than populous No, that was situate among the rivers, that had the waters round about it, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was from the sea? Nah 3:9 Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers. Nah 3:10 Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains. Nah 3:11 Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy. Nah 3:12 All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater. Nah 3:13 Behold, thy people in the midst of thee are women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.

Let us also remind ourselves that the wisdom of Christ is foolishness to the natural “carnal” man (1 Cor 2:14). All this wrath coming against us and our old man and his wicked ways is actually the blessing of the Lord.

Rev 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

No man enters into Christ any other way. The writing of the law of Christ on our hearts, comes not by us inviting Christ into our hearts, but by the Lord bringing fiery trials to us and pouring out wrath upon our wicked carnal ways.

Rev 15:8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled. 1Pe 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

No man are able to obey the Lord until the Lord causes it to happen and that only happens by us DOING (living through) these very judgments we are reading about.

Eze 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Being brought to our wits ends requires all that we thought we knew to be shown for what it is i.e. (lies). We must go through this raging sea of our carnal mind in search of the truth in order for Christ to appear in the cloud that is “His Christ”.

Luk 21:22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled…. Luk 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Luk 21:26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. Luk 21:27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Luk 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

And how are we redeemed? We need not speculate ( Exo 6:6, Mat 19:28, etc). Isa 1:27 Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.

Here is our first verse to dig a little deeper.

Nah 3:8 (NKJV) Are you better than No Amon That was situated by the River, That had the waters around her, Whose rampart was the sea, Whose wall was the sea?

Despite what the thoughts of a carnal mind will tell us, there is no safety in numbers in escaping from God’s wrath against sin. Following the crowd is what flesh does to feel safe but it is no defense for our disobedience and the wrath of God that comes in our day of the Lord.

Exo 23:2 Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment:

Wresting judgment, the very thing that redeems us and blesses the new man, is what flesh will always think is right.

Isa 31:1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!

The mind of the whore of Babylon is to trust in the safety of numbers and the billions they deceive by the two hundred million lies (Rev 9:16). But as we have seen time and time again it is a false peace that will suddenly be shattered when Christ comes to make war and brings a sword.

1Th 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape Mat 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. Jer 51:8 Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.

The sea is the wall of flesh that we trust in. We may know true doctrine but when the rubber meets the road we being yet carnal fall back and rely on the instincts of the flesh and all that we learn in Egypt. That wall falls as we saw in earlier studies because it is built with untampered mortar of slime, our filthy self-righteous works (Eze 13:10, Isa 64:6) and not the Word of Truth.

Nahum exposes this false security by asking if we are better than those in No Ammon which represents those that trust in the reasoning’s of the carnal mind and not the Word. The harlot like the people of No, sits on many waters which represent the flesh of all of mankind.

Rev 17:15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

The strength of the harlot is the flesh and the carnal mind. The waters of the sea, which represent the flesh, are seemingly bottomless and this is where the seed of our father, the devil, lives deep in the DNA of these marred vessels of clay.

Rev 9:11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

Only the Lord can draw out Leviathan and bring salvation by slaying the great dragon within. Job 41:1 Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down Isa 27:1 In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

The Lord of course causes all things, even our days appointed in Nineveh and even putting Leviathan into this sea of the flesh to play. Seeing the works of the Lord, the wonder in the deep is very liberating.

Psa 104:24 O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches. Psa 104:25 So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts. Psa 104:26 There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.

Psa 107:24 These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep.

Our strength or rampart is the sea when spiritually we are in Nineveh. This word rampart comes

from a word Steven reviewed in his Proverbs 31 (Link at end) study that means host or army.

H2426, cheyl chel, khale, khale

A collateral form of H2428; an army; also (by analogy) an intrenchment: - army, bulwark, host, + poor, rampart, trench, wall.

Total KJV occurrences: 8

The root of which comes from H2428 meaning a force and also includes the word translated as virtuous. As that study shows, we see that this force, this army, is associated with the word

“pain” and in particular the context of childbirth, patience and coming through the whirlwind of judgement.

Nah 3:9 Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, And it was boundless; Put and Lubim were your helpers.

God’s people are called to truly be separate. Yet it takes us much travailing to learn these truths and become obedient. Our linkage to Egypt and the ways of the world run very deep. No Amon (Ammon) is a place on the Nile River, also called Thebes, which was said to be the capital of Upper Egypt. These locations named here all pertain back to the land of Ham, Noah’s son, who was cursed for exposing the nakedness of his father.

Psa 105:23 Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

We first come see the power of the Lord in the land of Ham.

Psa 105:27 They shewed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.

Ethiopia comes from the Hebrew word Cush who was the son of Ham. Put is also a son of Ham and is what is translated as Libya in modern English (Gen 10:6). The word Lubim also ties to Ham and to Libya and is defined in Strong’s as follows. H3864, lubıy lubbıy, loo-bee', loob-bee' Partial from a name probably derived from an unused root meaning to thirst, that is, a dry region; apparently a Libyan or inhabitant of interior Africa (only in plural): - Lubim (-s), Libyans.

I live in Africa and I will attest it is dry here. But in the spiritual, dryness refers to the absence of God’s rain, the doctrines and dew that drip from the heavens and water the earth. Dryness brings famine, parches the land and hinders the crops and trees from bearing fruit in seasons. Land that is dry is easily set ablaze and burned by fire as I have witnessed my first summer in Africa. These realities in the natural tell us in type and shadow how it works in the spiritual.

Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Via Nahum, the Lord is speaking to His Elect here in the whirlwind of our judgment. Now is that judgment on the house of God. Nahum is comparing us to the history of No Amon which was a very populated place in the world at that time. The references do not make much sense on the surface. How is a place surrounded by water, situated next to “the River” as some translations define it, given strength and helped by these four named places that are considered dry regions and devoid of green things?

The Lord destroys the old man within us, saving the remnant, Christ in us. He does this by turning those that trust in Egypt and its idols over to the king of Babylon within us. This is the occasion that brings judgment through the fire that is in our heavens.

Jer 46:25 The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saith; Behold, I will punish the multitude of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods, and their kings; even Pharaoh, and all them that trust in him: Jer 46:26 And I will deliver them into the hand of those that seek their lives, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants: and afterward it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old, saith the LORD.

The two hundred million lies of our carnally minded father the devil (Joh 8:44), are the innumerable grasshoppers/ locusts that cause us to err from the Lord’s ways and then endure wrath as we endure the death that is the wages of sin.

Jer 46:22 The voice thereof shall go like a serpent; for they shall march with an army, and come against her with axes, as hewers of wood. Jer 46:23 They shall cut down her forest, saith the LORD, though it cannot be searched; because they are more than the grasshoppers, and are innumerable

Here is a second witness to how this multitude of No is cutoff in that day.

Eze 30:10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also make the multitude of Egypt to cease by the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon. Eze 30:14 And I will make Pathros desolate, and will set fire in Zoan, and will execute judgments in No. Eze 30:15 And I will pour my fury upon Sin, the strength of Egypt; and I will cut off the multitude of No.

When we see Jerusalem surrounded by armies of flesh, when we see our innate helpless state incapable of obeying God after having fallen down seven times, then salvation has come. Today is the day of our salvation. We best not receive the grace of God in vain but step up and separate from the heathen and unbelieving. This applies within and without.

2Co 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Nah 3:10 Yet she was carried away, She went into captivity; Her young children also were dashed to pieces At the head of every street; They cast lots for her honorable men, And all her great men were bound in chains. Nah 3:11 Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.

As the harlot wife of the Lord, when the Lord turns us over the Assyrians within, the rod of His anger (Isa 10:5), we are bound in captivity to our carnality and fleshly way of life. We mix the old and the new wine and get drunk in seeking strength from the enemy who is yet thriving in

our heavens. We are unable to deliver ourselves. This is how our own wickedness corrects us (Jer 2:19).

Isa 10:24 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.

The pride of man is very stubborn and takes this baptism with fire to burn out of us. Having Truth but not doing Truth is thinking we have already arrived (Phil 3:12-13).

Isa 28:1 Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!

After receiving the Truth until we are proven with trials, we will wax fat on the things of the Lord. But vengeance is still to come for the Temple of the Lord.

Deu 32:15 But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. Deu 32:16 They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger.

But our self-righteous efforts of covering our sin and disobedience will fail; it will not keep us safe. We won’t be able to hide in the day of the Lord’s vengeance.

1Co 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God

Being carnal and trusting in Egypt and the world is not believing on Christ. There is darkness still to be brought to the light and burned out of us.

Joh 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

Here is a great verse that we should use often to measure ourselves and examine our faith. 1Jn 2:9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

The clay vessels we are will be dashed to pieces in the day of our remaking from a marred vessel of clay into the son of the living God (Jer 18:3-4).

Psa 2:9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

Living by every word God spoke ensures we will not take heed to these warnings and will all will first be disobedient before we are caused to be obedient. That is how one learns [is, was and will be]! So we too will be taken captive in Nineveh by the harlot. We will be in bondage waiting for the armies of Christ to come deliver us on the Mt. of Esau (Obe 1:21, Luk 21:24) and the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled in our walk.

The immature must be tried in the fire, this furnace of affliction to become the mature man in Christ.

Hos 13:16 Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.

In this immature still carnal and “marred” condition, we cast lots for Christ so we can wear His garments and not be righteously judged. This is how we twist the Word of God and pervert it, making our own bread (Isa 4:1) to take away our judgment.

Luk 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

This is what we do, doing the opposite of being a watchman and we enable strangers to come in and take over the land. This is “buying and selling” we do in making merchandise in the Temple of God. It is all one and the same event.

Oba 1:11 In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them. Joe 3:3 And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.

Yet the Lord will have none of it and will not put up with this defilement of His Name forever. His righteousness is only acquired by enduring through the very fiery judgments we are studying.

Rev 19:8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

Isa 26:9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

Overcomers will have had their old man and carnal mindedness dashed to pieces by the revelation of Jesus Christ within them.

Rev 2:26 (NKJV) And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations—

Rev 2:27 'HE SHALL RULE THEM WITH A ROD OF IRON; THEY SHALL BE DASHED TO PIECES LIKE THE POTTER'S VESSELS'— as I also have received from My Father;

Nah 3:12 All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.

The Elect of God upon whom judgment first falls are the first fruits unto the Lord (Jam 1:18,

Rom 8:23). Fig trees are fruit trees and represent men and in the negative sense the immature

in Christ. Immature fruit including untimely figs and sucklings, will not enter into the kingdom

of God. Such fruit must be destroyed and the immature must mature by this process.

Mat 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

Fig trees are green and represent the mixture of leprous yellow and heavenly blue.

Son 2:13 The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.

When we hold onto the strength of the world the fruit that is born for the Lord will not

withstand the trial of our faith. There is not yet enough root and that tree and its fruit will wither

in the heat of the day (Mat 13:6).

When the sixth seal is (was and will be) be coming upon us, the fruit produced by us being

adulterers mixing the things of God with worldly things, will easily be shaken off the tree.

Rev 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; Rev 6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

Our immature fruit, the figs, will fall to the earth and be devoured by the devourer as Nahum

here proclaims when our day of the Lord is at hand. Our enemies will in due time become food

for us, the bread of life as we mature in Christ via this process. This Nahum passage brings to

mind Samson’s riddle which foretells of this mystery and the strange workings of the Lord.

Jdg 14:14 And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle.

The meat represents the good that the Lord brings about from the evil and rebellion He works first within us for the counsel of His will. It is through our death, the death of the old man and our carnal ways of life, that bread is produced for the new man (Num 14:9).

The fig tree represents us and the fruit we bear for God in our immature state. We have not been tried by the fire. When tried in the fire, we will fail at first as this is how we are humbled in due time. The harvest comes in the fall so when we see the fruit appearing on our tree in our “summer” then we know judgment is nigh at hand.

Page 10: The Book of Nahum Part 8 Shaking by a Mighty Wind · PDF fileThe Book of Nahum Part 8 “Shaking by a Mighty Wind ... We saw the call to “stand stand” and repent of our wicked

Luk 21:29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; Luk 21:30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. Luk 21:31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. [that is entered only by judgment]

Like John we do not understand it until we can look back and see it in our walk and life (Rev

1:12). As we saw in Part seven, the Lord making us vile is how we are made to fade away as a

leaf which is the same as a fig falling from its tree.

Isa 34:4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. Isa 34:5 For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.

Being hearers only and not doers, we are not founded on the Rock but instead rely upon the strength of our flesh, our carnal mind and the lies of the great harlot for our salvation. But the Lord will come once again to shake all things and identify what cannot be shaken.

Heb 12:25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: Heb 12:26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. Heb 12:27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

I find it interesting that when we come to see our sin (chief of sinners) our first inclination is to cover ourselves with the works of our hands (the flesh) yet this is using fig leaves.

Gen 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

There are many parables about figs and fig trees, both positive and negative that we cannot possible look at in this study. But we are on the negative focus here, the judgment of the great whore resulting in the beast and false prophet being tossed into the lake of fire.

Jer 5:17 And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall impoverish thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword.

Our time to reap what we have previously sown has come.

Hos 2:12 And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees, whereof she hath said, These are my rewards that my lovers have given me: and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them. Hos 2:13 And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith the LORD.

Here is our last verse for today.

Nah 3:13 Behold, thy people in the midst of thee are women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.

Being hearers but not yet doers of the Word, the very thing that brings this baptism by fire; we

are a woman playing the harlot. Casting lots for garments we are spiritual whores.

Eze 16:15 But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was. Eze 16:16 And of thy garments thou didst take, and deckedst thy high places with divers colours, and playedst the harlot thereupon: the like things shall not come, neither shall it be so Eze 16:17 Thou hast also taken thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest to thyself images of men, and didst commit whoredom with them,

The locusts that bring darkness out of the bottomless pit within us are the lies and false

doctrines of the carnal mind. The Lord turns us over to them as His way of bringing us the point

of zero trust in our flesh (Php 3:3). We don’t go down easily as we have seen. James writes to

the elect warning them of this continued adultery and fornicating with the world.

Jas 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is

enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

When we are turned over to the king of Babylon for the destruction of our flesh, our gates are opened in our heavens (mind) for us to be devoured by the lies and false doctrines of the world and Babylon. Being an enemy of God and knowing the Lord puts all His enemies under His feet, explains the painful process we are enduring. All enemies include death and most assuredly include our carnal mindedness which is death.

1Co 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 1Co 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Women also represent churches which we all are indeed FIRST as the harlot wife of the Lord. As Mike’s study of the Book of Revelation showed, the relationship between a man and a woman is a type of the relationship between Christ and His church. The reason Nahum says those in the midst of us are woman is the same reason we are given these words from Revelation 9. Here

we begin to be tormented in seeking death to our sins but not finding it because of the locusts that appear as women.

Rev 9:6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. Rev 9:7 And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. Rev 9:8 And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.

Women have long hair which gives the appearance of a wife subject to her husband, Christ, and His Word. But in reality we are still under the rule of another king named Abaddon and Apollyon (Rev 9:11), we are the adulterers that James says we are. The period of chastening and scourging that Nahum is speaking about is the same five months referenced also in Rev 9:10.

The Lord uses this occasion to bring fire within that devours the bars of flesh and copper that

we trust in. We are being refined seven times in this furnace of affliction (Psa 12:6, Isa 48:10).

The end of the matter is we will not trust in our flesh or carnal mind anymore. We will live without walls and without these iron bars, trusting only in the WORD having no confidence in our flesh or the flesh of any man.

Eze 38:11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,

Php 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

Next week we hope to complete the study of Nahum and cover the final six verses. It will be a continuation of the judgment of the great whore and the burning up of the beast and false prophet within. Unlike the superficial healing of our wounded head in Nineveh, the rising of the SUN within us, grievously wounds the head of the beast from which there will be no healing. Here is a preview of next week and the very last verse of Nahum.

Nah 3:19 There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?
