The transition from ear 11 to ear 12 can be a difficult t er i ortant ste or so e the transition from ear 11 to ear 12 began on Monday the 14th of October, 2019. Many dreaded the day but some even rejoiced in it.

‘I don’t want to be here...’ - Sarah Duong ‘I’m just happy that school will be over soon!’ - Crystal Nguyen

Year 12 is the year of the HSC and VCE t is a year placed on a pedestal for most students. It is very common that students are told that there is a life ‘after’ the HSC or VCE. Although some do not feel that way, there are many who do. ‘I don’t really think much about the future, I just push through

Many are starting to feel the pressure with some already complaining about the amount of stress that they are dealing with;

‘Teachers are giving us more homework than we can actually do.....I feel so overwhelmed by it’ -Katherine Mai

Managing stress is vital in the senior year. Stress can put o motivation and productivity resulting in work being missed and the necessity to catch up.

But why are students feeling so much pressure? ‘....... it goes towards your , determines your future and the job that you want.’- Angela Sabojlovic

Students are advised to not feel as though their entire future relies on the completion of the HSC. There are many alternatives routes to attending university and life after high school.

However, if your goal is to head into university after the HSC, then the best solution is to STUDY! Here are some tips to the most ecient studying: - Switching o all possible distractions. - Read through notes consistently after school. - Take additional notes in class when the teacher is speaking.

But the most important aspect to all of these study tips is to stay hydrated and take momentary breaks. Studying should not be stressful. It is the last year of high school so the best thing students can do is to enjoy it!

There are also additional aspects of being apart of year 12 - the jackets! The year 12 of 2020 were able to choose their designs and their nicknames. It was a dicult process with many dierent opinions but thegrade came together and voted on the best looking jacket.

The greatest feature of this jacket was its reversible aspect - it has a waterproof side and cotton eece side. Perfect to prepare for any weather adversities (except for summer!). Although, seemingly unintentional, it also seemed apparent that the male populace of the school sported the waterproof navy side and the female populace fashioned the inverse! Most of the school seemed quite content with the jackets.

Although year 12 may be a dicult process, it’s important to enjoy every moment of it. The last year of high school should be a great journey into adulthood!

Feels the same‘Cuz it goes towards your hsc - determines your future and the job you want’- Shirley Lee and Angela Sabojlovic

n Term 4, the SRC renewed with new school captains, prefects and e ec ti e members. Members of the senior executive team include school captains (Abbey-Jane Bergan and Sylvia Tran), vice captains (Samuel Lee and Margaret Bayato), senior prefects (Kevin Nguyen and Lam Huynh) and international representative (Kathy Nguyen).

Bonnyrigg High School ro otes changing gender dynamics of leadership by electing two female school captains. This is a first within o r school’s history of leaders! Another new leader role is the senior representative for international students, who re resents the demands for the growing number of overseas students within the school. Leadership within Bonnyrigg is accommodating for changes in the school - the choices of both staff and students make improvements to the school.

Sylvia Tran says, “Being a representative of the school has made me feel fulfilled every time I complete a project. As a person who believes in success when serving others, being a part of the student representative body has fueled my purpose into attending school every day as I have found a purpose every day when I step into school grounds and know I’m a part of a student body that is improving the experience of students in the school. The thing that drives me into making a change within the school is my passion; my passion to help people in our generation and use of that passion to serve as a purpose in society. I would love to see the next generation of leaders lead the world to the greater good.”

Samuel Lee recalls a memorable contribution to the school community he has worked on as a member of the SRC. “Hands down, my favourite project which I

involved with is obviously the Year 7 Bonding Day. Just seeing friendships start out and form with students who may not talk to each other now talking; it’s just very rewarding whilst also heart-warming.”

The 2020 SRC is looking forward to create certain initiatives that will bring awareness to student and teacher mental health, raising money to improve the schools’ facilities and increasing school morale overall.

Without hesitation, Bonnyrigg will lay down the path and clear it to allow the 2020 senior executive team to arrive. Connections. Honesty. Excellence. Empathy. Respect. The lot is lled with the school’s spirit of the CHEER values! May they bring forth leadership to revolutionise the school.

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples.” said Mother Teresa amongst a crowd of famished children in Kolkata, India.

It was a means of alleviating the disparities between the poor and rich within a fnancially inequitable society. Through this, we recognise the importance of

incorporating change. Mother Teresa’s drive for change allowed her to become a beacon of goodness within a community. It’s inspiration from her and others who have contributed to improvements within the community. n essence, when we ins ire a change worth implementing, a community prospers.

Bring Back The Bush

By: Roy Lim

On Thursday the 19th of September, 60 students from Year 7 and 8 travelled to Bungarribee Park in Doonside he planted native wildflowers and trees to hel restore the original landscape, so animals can live in its environment.

Upon entering the park, students were greeted with light rain. As they settled, the two educators paid respect to the Aboriginal owners of the land, introduced the park and explained their mission to grow plants and flowers, and to bring the environment back to its original form.

After the students got to planting, they placed their plants in pre-made holes and filled the holes ith soil, so their plant would stay intact and gro

Even though the task was very muddy and soggy, the students had lots of fun planting wildowers in the park, and were treated to a giant playground after having lunch.

"It was a very fun day and it was nice to be a part of restoring the environment to be a greener place." - Jayda 8B

"I liked Bring Back the Bush because we got to learn about plants and animals in local wildlife and how to place plants in soil." - Trinh 8I

Greening Australia is an environmental organisation founded in 1982, aiming to protect, restore and conserve Australia's native vegetation. Growing more trees in Australia can help with the ongoing climate crisis, through absorbing carbon dioxide, a major greenhouse gas in the atmosphere that contributes to the hole in the ozone layer which ultimately exposes the human population to more radiation.

On the 16th of October 2019, the Bonnyrigg High Resolves group hosted a high Resolves night, which was held at the library, to showcase their amazing work and projects throughout this year. Girls In ConstructionIssue 4 By: Vivien Nguyen Term 4

From the 5th August - 16th October this year, t ent Bonnyrigg High School Year 9 girls participated in an enriching project that required them to use and develop their management and construction skills. The project was run by the Giants Sydney Football Club and sponsored by a real estate company Mirvac who created the ‘Mirvac and Giants Goals project ’

The project’s goal was to promote careers in project management and construction for girls. Ms Gromof recruited the girls to participate in the program. During the rst meeting, the girls were divided into 4 groups in which they were provided options to either “Build to Rent” or “Retail a store”.

“It was to get this opportunity because most females really don’t pick construction as a job due to all the stigma around it”- C Dinh

On their second meeting, each group was introduced to a mentor from Mirvac to help them with their projects.

he girls met up every week to work on their projects.Another part of the program involved an excursion to the Greater Western

Sydney Giants’ home base. They were able to see how and where the players trained ost importantly the girls met some of the women working for the Giants. The girls listened to the women talk about their life and how they progressed to work for Giants ome were football enthusiasts hilst others just really liked managing a sports team.

The day also involved a visit to Rhodes shopping centre. A tour guide led the girls around the shops and explained the motives behind structuring the shopping center the way they had. This helped the girls develop their project management skills as they now had an idea of how to set up or retail their shopping center.

After that day the girls spent more time every week to work on their projects, through the holidays until they presented their projects. Only a single group from Bonnyrigg was chosen as best to present to the CEO of Mirvac.

Mirvac to help them with their projects.
