shoulders in order to throw the javelin as far as possible. The winner is the person who can

apply the biggest force quickest.

to perform effectively across a range of skills i.e. throwing, hitting, jumping and kicking.

• Stand with your feet at the end of the measuring mat. Swing

arms back and jump forward as far as you can landing balanced

on two feet and take your measurement Use the longest

measurement from 3 attempts.

• Stand feet together beside a wall. Reach up with your arm and

mark the wall at full extension. Then jump as high as you can marking the wall at the top of

the jump. Measure the difference between the two marks.

• However it is important that the muscle groups that you improve are specific to the activity you are doing.

• You would use; • High weight• Low repetitions• But, you would perform the reps
