Turkey Time By Walker Davey Wednesday, the 24 th of November, is the start of Thanksgiving break. Thanksgiving is a time where people are thankful for all of the things they own. This is also a time where you get to spend time with your family and celebrate with a great turkey dinner. People usually go away to a place that is very special where they can remember about all the different memories they have at that place and usually have a tradition there. For me, I go to a Maine vacation house that I have been going to since I was a baby. A tradition that we do every Thanksgiving is we go over to our house and the whole family plays a football game. After we finish, we go over to my grandmother’s and grandfather’s cottage and have our festive dinner. We usually have my sister and my cousin recite a poem or piece before the dinner. Sometimes I recite, but that is rare. I love Thanksgiving because it is a holiday where you can spend time with your loved ones and have a great time. Wrap it up By Nicholas Schoeller Are you tired? I bet you are, I know I am. It’s probably because the end of term is this Friday. You will have to get your act together if you want to get the grade you want. If you have been doing badly in something or not doing as well as you desire, try to get better at it. Your teachers want to give you a good grade, but they sometimes can’t. Try as hard as you can and you will probably get a good grade. This is probably the most important week of the whole term because this is when your teachers might change their opinions of you and change an ME to an SS. The fall term is wrapping up and it will soon be Thanksgiving which means there will be a short break to give us kids a break. The Best Sport Ever! By Paul Michaud and Alan Zhang

The soccer season for all leagues is up

and running. Barcelona (Barca) are off to a slow start, drawing a couple of teams, and losing to 2nd division Hercules. This is unusual for such a great team. They snapped that streak by beating their archrivals, Real Madrid. They have been doing well since and won most of their games. They are in the UEFA Champions League and have been doing well. They are a great team to watch because of their passing, and the plays set up by Xavi. Messi is the league’s top scorer, as well as the star of the team. He’s really fast and plays smart soccer. Ask Hal and Anthony By Hal Groome and Anthony Duane Q: What if I forget to do my homework but I’m scared to tell my teacher? A: The best thing to do would be to tell your teacher. Make sure you tell him/her it was an accident. As you probably know, courage is one of Fenn’s core values. So fess up, the worst thing that could happen is that you would miss the first ten minutes of sports. Don’t be afraid. Q: What if I do horrible on a test, and I don’t want to tell my parents A: Again, the best thing to do is to tell your parents. They will understand. The worst thing would be is you have to retake the test. Q: How would I get on a teacher’s good side? A: Make sure whenever he or she is around you do not call out or goof off. Also make sure you remember your homework and don’t talk back! Q: What if I hate a class, but I have to go to it? A: Try to make it fun. If it’s the teacher, try to get on his/her good side and if it’s the subject then learn about it and make it fun.

Postcards By Jake Harvey

Postcards keep appearing in Mrs. Waldeck's mailbox! They’re from classrooms all over the United States. Some of them talk about the cities in the state they live in. Some talk about the geography and what their town looks like. For instance, we found out that North Carolina is the home of Pepsi. We have been sending letters too. We have a huge list of all the places we are going to send postcards. Some of the places include Concord, CA, Mountain Lakes, NJ, and Crookston, MN. Those are just a few of the places we are going to send postcards to. If you want to come see, the display is in the lower school hallway.

The C’s C’son By Dylan Volman and J-Rod Roderick

The Boston Celtics are 7-2 so far this

season. They are currently the best team in the Eastern Conference and are the 4th best team in the NBA. They have also beaten the team who everyone described as unstoppable, the Miami Heat who have the big 3 of Lebron, D-Wade, and Chris Bosh. The Celtics stat leaders so far are Paul Pierce with 20.2 points per game, Kevin Garnett with 10.6 rebounds per game, Rajon Rondo with 14.9 assists per game and Rondo also leads the team with 3.0 steals per game, and finally, Jermaine O’Neal leads the team with 1.4 blocks per game. The J-Rod predicts the C’s will win the championship against the LA Lakers. Dylan predicts the Celtics will win the championship against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Celtics will dominate and that’s the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth a.k.a Paul Pierce, the truth.

Smitten with Smitty By Chewi Bruni and Jacob Dudley

Do you ever wonder what teachers would say when they are the ones answering the kids’ questions? Here’s your chance to find out from our interview with fourth grade teacher, Mr. Smith. Q. How long have you been teaching at Fenn? A. I have taught here for 14 years. Q. How long have you been teaching overall? A. I have been a teacher for 19 years. Q. Where did you teach before? A. I taught at Dexter, an all boys school for five years Q. What subjects have you taught? A. I have taught Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Math. Q. What inspired you to become a teacher? A. I used to be a camp counselor and I liked it and wanted to work with kids more so I started to teach. Q. Why did you come to teach at Fenn? A. I went to Fenn as a kid, and I loved it. Also they were looking for another 4th grade teacher. They called me, and I said yes! Q. What sports teams have you coached and which was your favorite? A. I coached J.V. Basketball for three years and baseball for eleven years and liked baseball much better. We both loved (Smitty) as a teacher and a sports coach, and we were very happy to interview him! Thanks Smitty!!

On the Ice By Spencer Pava

The Bruins are off to a great start this season beating some of the best teams in the league. They are second in their division behind their rival the Montreal Canadians. Tim Thomas, the Bruins’ goalie, is one of the best goalies in the league. I predict that the Bruins will make the playoffs because now they are 5th in the Eastern conference. Alex Ovechkin is off to a very slow start, but I believe that he shall come storming back up the scoring lists. Nathan Horton is off to a great start this season and just loves hitting the crossbar. A few days ago, the Bruins played the Montreal Canadians at The TD Garden. There were not many Canadians in the stands. I believe that the Canadians were aiming to shoot the puck at Tuuka Rask’s head because he got hit by a puck either 4 or 5 times. Bruins player, Tyler Seguin, is one of the fastest players ever. With 3 goals and 3 assists, he is one of the most productive players in the league. The Bruins are going to be one of the best teams in the league this year, and I believe that they can win The Stanly Cup. Painted Caves and Chosen Ones By Charlie Fitzsimmons and Willie Swift

Boy of the Painted Cave, by Justin Denzel, was a slightly odd book. Even though, it was still a good story and was probably a 3 star book out of 5. The book was about a boy named Tao who lived with the valley people in the Dordogne Valley in France 18,000 years ago. He wants to be a cave painter, but he is not a Chosen one and therefore cannot paint as it is a taboo to do so if you are not a Chosen one. Overall, it was interesting to learn about a different time and place, and it was fun to creatively write a final chapter to the book.
